What Vehicle Model/Brand Is It IMPOSSIBLE To Talk A Woman Out Of Buying?
We've all been in the situation...a wife, girlfriend, mistress, lady-friend, female colleague is in the market for a vehicle and they tell you they are going to buy model X.

YOU, being an AutoSpies.com reader and part of the most knowledgeable car audiences on earth realize they are about to make a big mistake because:

A. They have been reading the standard media that is totally bought and paid for by the manufacturers and they've bought into the hype regarding this vehicle although the TRUTH is far from the hype.

B. They haven't done their research regarding reliability, safety, etc. and customers real life ownership like hell experiences.

So just as you are about to try and help and make some recommendations, you realize that talking her out of buying THIS brand/vehicle will be IMPOSSIBLE, no matter how bad it is.

Many others have tried in the past but in every single situation the task was just too big.

Even Brad Pitt, couldn't do it!

Tell us, WHAT brand/vehicle that would be in your opinion.

I know one but I will save my answer for a little while and see if you all can guess.

Fire away Spies!

My wife is a badge whore. We have a 10 year old BMW X5 that she won't let me sell, no matter how much it costs to keep it on the road. Trying to talk her into the Subaru Outback or Ford Edge but its a tough sell. Almost snagged a low mile CPO X5 in the $30Ks but lost it.

My suggestion, don't try talking them out of it no matter how painful it is to watch them buy it. It's amazing how easily one can overlook an unreliable/slow/ugly/gas guzzling vehicle as long as they have invested an emotional interest in a vehicle. For example, I would love to buy a sports car right now, it won't be good on gas, or have much room inside, and the overall reliability may be hit or miss. But I've totally bought into the emotional appeal of owning one and would be willing to overlook all of those negative aspects and still be happy with the vehicle. This being said, if you do coerce someone into buying a vehicle they didn't want in the first place then they will actively criticize their purchase and blame you.

Lady (badgewhore) says, "Mercedes-Benz has class."
Me (Lexus fan) says, "Why?"
Lady: "I don't know. It's classy."
Me: "So it has that 'feeling'."
Lady: "Yeah!"
Me: "And BMW?"
Lady: "I LOVE BMW!"
Me: "I like them too."
Lady: "(points to a car with the BMW badge) That's a BMW right? (then points to a sleek-looking car far away) And I'm sure that's a Benz! (finally points to an Benz nearby with AMG package, one of those with quad exhausts) Mercedes-Benz makes fast cars too?! COOL!"
Me: (drops head)

Dang. I swear I had something funny in mind. I apologize if I let you guys down.

Well it depends. My fiance is in LOVE with the Kia Soul! Last year she was adamant that she buy a MINI Cooper. I've come to the conclusion that when it comes to cars, females change their minds like the seasons. Truth be told, I hold on long enough 'till she eventually changes her mind or loses interest (whichever comes first) and stops pestering me on buying her the car she wants.

Sure you can get Range Rover, but you're getting the cheapest one!

But why?

Because I have to buy a second car for when the Rover is in the shop... ZINGGG

Sorry guys, where are my manners? I forgot to add my 2 cents in to this conundrum. I believe there are 3 types of female car buyers out there:

Type 1: 'like cars just like their pets' - small, cute & comes with alotta tricks, generally cars that are 'novelty' items or 'unique looking' (Mini Cooper, Kia Soul, VW beetle, Audi TT, etc.)

Type 2: 'the bigger, the better' - don't be fooled, she may be small, but her SUV isn't! (the 'quintessential' Lexus RX, BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover, Mercedes M & GL Class, & the oldy but goody... Cadillac Escalade)

Type 3: 'I don't care as long as it's from germany and it's a convertible' - these requiements may be mutually exclusive, but when mixed reveals the most dangerous badgewhore of all badgewhores... the 'blonde banshee'... spotted in the wild, this elusive creature drives a - BMW 1-series or 3-series convertible, Mercedes CLK or SL convertible, Audi TT convertible, Porsche Boxster, Porsche 911 convertible, & anything German in between. Other variants will 'opt for cars that end with '_exus'.

Enjoy your summer friends.

I've achieved a major personal goal by getting my wife not to buy her third New Beetle (she liked the flower vase and car's front end "smile"), not to buy a Nissan Cube ("it is so cute"), but instead to buy a Cooper S.

Toyota. My wife likes affordable, practical, and reliable. It took me forever to convince her to drive a 3-series and once she did there was no going back. Now, whenever she complains about repair costs I tell her I'll be glad to buy her a Toyota and she shuts up.

speaking of the RX350, how many guys actually choose to buy this car? without of course being persuaded by their wives...

NO question in my mind it's a Range Rover or Range Rover Sport.

They will buy it knowing full well it's a service nightmare with miserable gas mileage.

It's like the bad boy version of a man.

Never seen any other brand have that kind of effect on even the most sensible women.

the question is backwards. it should be what car is impossible to talk a woman INTO buying.

women tend to be much smarter and practical car shoppers. and they're very value oriented.

men are the ones who you can't talk OUT of buying a car they love.
