Can you guess what the best off-road SUV's are?

Because most SUV's aren't taken off road you're seeing less and less articles picking the ones that are the best off the pavement.

You'll be surprised just how small the list really is these days.

Here's Forbes magazine's choices:

Hummer H1 Alpha
Hummer H2
Mitsubishi Montero
Land Rover LR3
Toyota FJ Cruiser
Land Rover Range Rover
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Lexus LX 470
Lexus GX 470

Do they all deserve to be on this list?

What models are missing?

Even though you can't buy one in the USA these days (except on the used market) we'd put the Land Rover Defender somewhere near the top.

Surprises:
(i.) that the Toyota 4Runner 4WD is not on the list, especially as the Toyota FJ and Lexus GX did make the list.
(ii.) that the Nissan Pathfinder 4WD is not on the list
(iii.) that the Jeep Wrangler is not on the list

Not surprised that most domestic [such as Ford, Chevrolet, GM] and German [Porsche, VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes] brands failed to make the list.

LOL...an offroad list without the UNIMOG AND G wagon?

A guess the UNIMOG AND G are on a completely different level.

I've seen pictures of a G pulling H1 out of the mud.

This is how the list should read.

1. Mercedes-Benz G500
2. Hummer H1
3. Land Rover Defender 90
4. Toyota Land Cruiser / Lexus LX470
5. Jeep Wrangler

Forbes doesnt even get their richest people list correct. For years they used to take kickbacks from D Dog Trump - inflating his worth. Other vehilces to make the list, but lower, should include... Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4 Runner / Lexus GX470, Land Rover Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, Hummer H3 (not H2), and of course - DaimlerChrysler Unimog (but this is not your everyday off roader - it more or less belongs on the moon!).

Why have u ever driven it.What if it's boring looking but u can't ignore it's hulky performance.

Cayenne Turbo S is the world's most powerful SUV.
And i know it's offroad capabilities.

one of my classic favorites is the one in the picture, a land rover defender, and speaking of which, what ever happend to that concept a few years back with a refreshed model, and possible production plans?

The H1 Alpha is definitely one to beat. The H2 is crap off-road...with its toothpick tie-rods. The Grand Cherokee needs some ground clearance but it isn't bad. The Lexuses seem too fancy to be off-roading but...alright. Land Rovers are really classy and fancy too, but I know they're proven off-roaders. I'd hate to see one with mud on it though...
