Spy Photos: The first real pics of the new BMW 3-series coupe

Not a sporty as the outgoing one. Looks too me to be more elegant this time around.... the lines are more flowing than aggressive. Interesting BMW took this route in the design of it.

Not really as aggressive. The conservative look beats the gaudy bangle design, imo. I'm not impressed but it's not half bad either. The taillights are interesting...

Those thick 5-spoke wheels have GOT to go. Honestly, I think it makes the '07 G35 sport wheels look good.

As i always said,and this time u have to believe as now all of u has seen the car,
THIS IS REALLY AN ANOTHER OVERDONE OR OVERLYSTYLED CAR FROM BMW.SEDAN LOOKS 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THIS.
ATLEAST REFLECT SOME SIMPLICITY AND EMOTIONS.

WHAT ABOUT THE CURRENT 3 COUPE.OFFCOURSE 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THIS.

I don't know what's going on in the BMW side,but they r really NOT coming out with intresting,
eye-cathcy designs or ideas,like what they used to be.

Their new 5 series except for the M5 is hideous.
Their new 7 series is bulky oversize.
The rear of the 3 series sedan is unpleasant.
The 6 series is again an ultimate ugly machine.
Z4 cabrio again no different from it's cousins.

What left.

I am not hating them or bashing them but saying the truth.
They are definately fun to drive and even people get use to their designs after having BMW for many years.They consider BMWs to be beautiful but reality is something different.

A car should be made so that it change your mind and change your opinion about it.
AND
Not like that for which u have to adjust with it, force yourself to believe that XXX car is good,beautiful.

For example:Everybody like the designs of the Ferraris,Porches,Bentlies...etc.It directly comes out of you.what a design.
But
Some(not all) force themself to like Bugatti,Mercedes and BMW's and some even Lexuses.They force themselves to settle with it.

Like many here,forces themselves to restrict to a particular brand.
Some restrict to or force themselves to AUDI,some to BMWs,some to MBs and some to Lexus...etc

Come to the topic.

Before we use to say will this this can compete against 3 coupe.Now it changed.
Can BMW face the new G35 coupe,upcoming IS coupe,Audi coupes or MB coupes with this awkward 3 coupe.

These things will sell because they are BMW's. I don't care how ugly or pretty it is, its a BMW. Status has a lot to do with that. What would the majority of guys rather be seen in an Infiniti or a BMW? Hmmmmm that's a hard choice. Of course they'd rather be seen in a Bimmer. And don't tell me it's because it handles better and all of that crap. The only time handling really comes into play is on the track.

Most people don't walk into BMW dealerships and say, "I'd like a 3 series because it handles better than the Lexus IS350". Rather they want it because of status or...because their next door neighbor just got one and won't stop bragging about it.

Of course these well sell. None of us are questioning that. Have we ever? It's our opinion that this 3 series coupe is...well...not pretty.

I won't argue with you but if BMW had made it a little better looking, yeah I might consider it. I don't hate BMW's, I just don't like the looks of this particular one. I also don't like fitting in, which is why I bought an FX. Before I buy any vehicle I try to test each one in a given class. The next vehicle I'm going to buy is a sedan so this would be out anyway. Who knows, if the new G35 is a disappointment I may end up with an A4 or 3 Series.

Now why would you say that? Again, I own an FX35, loaded. Last time I checked they are going for around $45-$47k.

Gross generalization. I think this is the first time I've critized a BMW on this site. I can't speak for others on the board.

I'm not sure what you meant by that but I love that BMW is doing well. That means Infiniti, Audi, and others have to play catch up. That just means more competition and more great models to choose from.

Alex your living in the past.

Back then BMW and MB were status symbols and had the monopoly. Todays buyers are much smarter and want VALUE for their money.

A basic BMW is priced close to a loaded G35 or IS.

their option listing is pathetic charging you anywhere from 3 to 7g's for items that are found standard equipment.

Save me all that BMW drivers car crap. The mjority of BMW owners will never know what the car can do on the road and will never beat the vrap out of their cars unless they take it on a road course. Most of the BMW's will be driven in traffic or busy interstates and be stuck in traffic during everyday daily use.

So for the kind of money that these cars are asking for more and more people are jumping ship to G35's, and IS's for their bang of the buck and no longer have to worry for electric or dealer service nightmares.
