These cars are going to set new standards in economy vehicles, and is a great move my BMW. Over the past few years BMW spent large amounts of money on the Project-i, instead of a rival to the Audi R8 and Mercedes SLS AMG, and it will pay off way more than a supercar ever could have. Also with the first mass produced carbon fiber chassis, BMW is leading the way.

Why couldn't they have used the MINI brand instead of diluting the BMW brand even further.

Because it will probably be a European thing to start. The Euros are all about economy and will not dilute the brand . You have to think on a global scale, not just in your hometown.

I don't think it will dilute the brands in any way. If you read BMW may create another spin off brand for the city cars. Germans in the 50's and 60's were kings of tiny microcars. Maybe not the best cars at the times but they were a step at the time to try and give small city cars to masses. Now BMW is going back to that time and creating something that really sounds great for Europe and congested cities around the world and will probably be miles better than Mercedes Smart.

Very interesting , BMW always is moving ahead , and this is the future for sure. I also heard that they is making a suspension component of carbon fiber too, very interesting though.

Mercedes creates the Smart and Toyota plagarizes it and pops out the IQ. Hilarious. They couldn't even come up with their own name for it!
