Chinese version of Porsche Cayenne to receive a more powerful Audi S4 engine
Instead of using a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 engine, the Porsche Cayenne that’s meant for the Chinese market will use a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 powerplant from the Audi S4.

This means that finally, the analysts’ prediction of China-destined cars to be better vehicles than those meant for the other parts of the world have come true. Porsche is making this move because of a tax legislation that’s related to the engine capacity of the car. If the 3.6-liter engine is used, this would put the SUV in the 3 to 4 liters category, making it get to a 40% tax level.

Let's see Touareg is the bulk of this car, now an Audi engine, apart from the crest are there any Porsche bits at all?

your right hes probably not hes not someone that is taken in by marketing hype to the point and delusional brand cache that they would be willing to pay thousands more for a car that other than the front and rear look identical to the toureg all while not offering much in the way of a nicer interior or performance other than uh hem "its tuned by Porsche" this thing continues to be a joke and the people that think driving one is driving a real porsche are also jokes....uh what a paste of being pretentious lol a VW badged as a porsche with front rear end its a modern day 924 horrible....

Porsche is more about the handling than anything else. Historically you would never want to take a Porsche to a drag race - - - but on a twisting mountain road - - - its a different ball game. While there maybe many shared components, the suspension and steering is all Porsche.

My 911 Turbo with PDK has beat 458's in .2-.5 car lengths. Gallardo's are for breakfast. I tried with a Lamborghini Murc. but it got me on the high end of the speedometer. It's not just the twisties anymore. It's the straight line as well. I can say I can beat most cars on the road. Porsche still has their own parts but they've always used some small parts from VW. It doesn't bug me at all. Hell, Audi does too and look at their build quality. I'm more about the quality than where it's coming from. If that quality came from China i'd praise it too.

The tax mentions are very important for China regs...This 3.0L will power a very tiny-niche vehicle... as has happened since the model intro, very few people will be buying this Cayenne. The A4L, among other VW/Audi vehicles made in China, beats the tax brackets with a 2.0L.
