Jaguar XE coming to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show
Ever since Tata Motors took ownership of Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008, both of these companies have been on an ascending trend.

They have been improving their product lineups, enticing customers with various offers, and getting recognition in the brand image aspect. Recently, Land Rover released the Evoque compact SUV and announced the appointment of Victoria Beckham as Creative Design Executive. Meanwhile, Jaguar is currently developing a new small sports car. According to a report from Inside Line, the vehicle which will be known as XE, will debut at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. This model will be underpinned by a shortened version of the next generation XK platform.

It's a handsome car, but sort of a let-down after the stunning F-type prototype that was shown nearly a decade ago.

This is what the new car should more closely resemble.

The rendering is slick.

Conversely, though the F-type was good-looking roadster, it lacked a bit of the modern feel that Jaguar needs in today's market. The front facia still reminds me of the old Ford Taurus...and I think JLR wants us to forget the past Ford relationship (at least for now).

It's a good looking car and it gives Jaguar the "sportscar" that they needed for a long time. Historically Jaguar was primarily known for the XK 120,140,and 150 and then the XKE. The sedans were never the halo cars that the sportscars were. Had Jaguar done this sportscar 20 yrs ago it would have been in much better shape then now. It's good that Tata has put some money into them.I understand in Britain,at least, the new XJ is beating Mercedes S and AudiA8 and BMW 7 series in sales. That is remarkable.
