Game Changer? Infiniti M Hybrid To Offer Almost Double Mileage Of Gas Counterpart
Nissan is readying a new hybrid system for its Infiniti luxury model, set to go on sale later this year, while revamping technology for regular gas engines to send a green message.

Nissan Motor Co. is a leader among global automakers in zero-emission electric cars, with its Leaf being rolled out in a few months time.

But its engineers said Tuesday that green offerings for conventional cars are in the works because vehicles with gasoline engines still make up the bulk of Nissan's models.

Among them are idling stop, which turns off the engine when the vehicle comes to a temporary stop such as at a traffic light, and a unique way of injecting fuel into the engine to boost mileage.

The main attraction of the presentation at global headquarters was the hybrid technology for the Infiniti, sold as Fuga in Japan, which comes with two clutches, allowing the vehicle to coast along as an electric vehicle longer than if it came with one clutch.

you might want to read the article before you post:

Nissan declined to disclose the mileage for the hybrid but said it will be comparable to a compact, which would translate to about double the mileage for a sedan.

The Nikkei is reporting: “We expect fuel economy to improve by 60 percent to 90 percent” over the conventional model, chief engineer Koichi Hayasaki said at a media briefing.

The current M37 gets 18/26 so if that 75% better then we get 31/45?

Compare that to the current GS450h at 22/25.

Yeah I would say that is a game changer......

We're still a car model generation away from really cool hybrid performance technology.

Look at the above post for reference from Forbes that indicates double.

However in good faith I will add "almost" to the title, when it was posted that was the info we had. Since then more has surfaced and "almost" is probably a better choice.

Finally a version of a Hybrid that makes owning it have actual benefits and not crap mileage that is a few hairs better than the regular version.

Remember though we heard a lot of these promises before. Hopefully they have a breakthrough.

"Nissan Motor Co. is a leader among global automakers in zero-emission electric cars"

They have to sell one first. Tesla is the currently leader. Market weasel hype.

Agent009 you do discredit yourself, by not being more level about different car companies. The reporting of this article is on point though.
