DRIVEN: The TRUTH About The 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD?
Ah, the web is a beautiful thing. I love reading a review that hits it spot on and when a publication is not afraid to tell the truth about what is going on in the auto industry.

Unfortunately, the truth seems to be fleeting these days.

But, wait. Check out this review of a recently driven 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD from The Truth About Cars. Oh-kay, I'll admit the first couple of paragraphs below are a bit brutal, but click through to see the rest. You may actually walk away surprised.

After you read this story, give us some input if you believe this writer was a bit too hard on the 2010 TL SH-AWD or if he was not hard enough.

We think he delivered the truth.

Pity Acura. Honda gambled in creating the first Asian luxury brand, and enjoyed four years in the spotlight when this bet paid off, only to then be completely overshadowed by Lexus. Acura has spent the last two decades trying to regain car buyers’ attention. The logical solution: offer cars that look and drive like no others. But what is distinctive it not necessarily desirable. And so we have the Acura TL SH-AWD.

There are over six billion people in the world. Six of them might find the current Acura TL more attractive than its predecessor. This car introduced the cheese slicer grille that has since spread to Acura’s other models. Can’t remember the grille on earlier Acuras? Well, that’s the problem Acura sought to fix, and the new menacing face is certainly distinctive. But sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. One suggested solution: opt for silver paint, so that the grille will blend in...

Acura design theme is unbelievably repulsive.

People buy Acura despite its appearances. Too bad.

What an ugly car!! Blackura, where you are you?

Acura is in shambles when it comes to designing cars. Reminds me of BMW from the early 2000's.

This sums up the TL the best:
"There are over six billion people in the world. Six of them might find the current Acura TL more attractive than its predecessor."

My eyes..My Eyes....the horror! It looks like they used Medusa's front snagel tooth as a Grill...ICK What is wrong with Acura..don't they ever do any focus groups and have people go blind looking at the design before they release this uggly beast on the poor general public?

LexSucks, I'm here watching Lebron James go to the Miami Heat!!!...anyways, I traded in my '08 TLS 6mt for a '10 TL SH-AWD 6mt. I still think the '08 looks better, however the SH-AWD with the 6mt is a blast to drive and is actually quicker from 0-60, has lots of new toys and gadgets, has more luxury with the sport. So far I've gotten lots of compliments on this choice (I know, I'm still surprised by it too)...

I think people like to jump on bandwagons and give praise and/or criticism where it isnt necessarily due. For instance, the undeserved praise that goes to hideous cars like the m-b cls and bland, understyled ones like the s5. And I think that's what's happened here with the tl.

It may not win design of the year, but the tl is far from the ugliest thing on the road. Heck it isnt even the ugliest in its class--that goes to the g37. It nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, and should inspire others to take similar chances with their designs (i.e., on dullards like the a4 and is).

Well, styling is an entirely subjective matter.

But the G37 is DEFINITELY better looking than an Acura TL. No question.

Now, the last generation TL was a looker. My God, was any line on that car wrong?

Not an attractive car, the G37 and 3 series both take this car down in looks and performance.
