Mercedes-Benz passes Audi into 2nd place in global luxury car sales for the first half
The record June sales pushed Mercedes-Benz past Audi as No. 2 luxury car manufacturer in the world. Mercedes-Benz said that in the first-half it sold with 1,750 more vehicles than Audi.

Still, both manufacturers are behind Bmw, which sold a total of 585,755 units in the first-half, remaining the largest luxury car manufacturer in the world. Although Audi sold more vehicles than Mercedes-Benz in the first five months of the year, the strong demand for the S-Class and E-Class helped the Stuttgart-based automaker achieve a total of 113,300 units in June.

Audi was just ahead of MB for one month. Everyone expected this to only last for a short while. Audi has several cars at model end.

You don't brag about how you are wining a race when the other team pits.

The fact that Audi is neck and neck with BMW and MB says lots for Audi. both have several more models then Audi for now.

GermanNut is always there when you need him! The fact that Audi was able to essentially tie Mercedes-Benz for the first half of 2010 speaks volumes. Audi's A8 sales YTD have been non-existant due to the new model arriving soon. Also the A6 is aging and the full impact of the new A1 has yet to be factored in.

Don't worry with a brand new A8 just 6 weeks away, an A1 that will see heavily increased production, and a new A6 on the horizon, Audi will easily surpass Mercedes-Benz for the full-year sales total. BMW will be next to fall within 3 years.

Ha ha.. "Essentially tie..."

or more accurately "not sell as many cars as..."

I really don't give a hoot about these sales figures, but I'm sickened by the hypocrasy... if Audi would have sold 1750 more cars than Mercedes you would have not stopped bragging about how Audi had DEFEATED Mercedes Benz, GermanNut.

How is it hypocrisy S1000RRman? Audi sold more cars at the beginning of 2010 and mb sold more last month to take the current lead by little over 1000 units. The new E-Class is doing very well as it would be expected from a new model. The new 5-Series will also increase BMW's overall sales figures as well. Audi sales will increase substantially on the new A1, the late launch of the A7, and the new A8 which just started. Already, orders for the new A8 are exceeding Audi's output and predicted demand. Audi will at least 50,000 units of the A1 maybe even 100,000 as orders are exceeding production. So, I do not see the hypocrisy here. Are you sure it's not your own fanboy bias? That would be hypocritical.

Sorry, one more thing: There is no new A6 as this is the last year of the current model. This has a big impact on Audi's numbers vs. bmw vs mb.

That is well good and all, but ironic how the Audi clan was saying in the next year or so with BMW struggling that Audi will surpass them. Forget that the BMW 5-series wasnt being produced since August 2009 and the the New 5-series has just arrived and available June 19th, or forget that BMW is the US was going thru a model changeover. The gap is still large and will expand further with BMW now that the new 5-series is out, the X3 will arrive soon, the X1, the 6-series and M variants all arriving soon in next year or so

@BMW4me4ever - audi has always predicted 2015 to pass BMW and MB. The fact they are right there now says alot.

Still don't get what point you are trying to make BMW4me4ever. What was the Audi "Clan" saying exactly? I don't follow your point in your comment. The "Audi Clan" never said anything about Audi surpassing mb and bmw this year or next. However, Audi has increased market share at a higher percentage than the elitist two. Audi is also more profitable based off ROI and net investment per unit compared to the elitist two and has a much bigger war chest and fat profit margins. The "Audi Clan's" business strategy is about profit and not volume. They have ran their business model to perfection unlike the "BMW Mafia" that has severe losses due to over extending incentives, etc. Plus, you work for BMW so I have a hard time figuring where your objectivity begins and your pure BMW bias ends. So, what can you possibly know about Audi and it culture? Nothing!
