First official pics of the new BMW 3-series coupe

Dear 001,

These official BMW press photos just started surfacing on the net.

Seems like someone has broke the press embargo and published them early...

The official intro is not until next Tuesday but here is a sneek peek.

Is the new BMW 3-series coupe a STUD or a DUD?
STUD!!! They did a great job on it!
DUD!!! They really blew it!
LUKEWARM: Just OK.

Looks as though the Bangle ques have been left off this coupe. Not too bad looking, though it looks a lot more elegant this time around and not as sporty as the outgoing model. Some of the rear angles remind me a little of the CS1 Concept that was out a while back. I like the front and the grill better than on the Sedan. and the rear lights also look better than the sedan's.,... I am sure this will be a winner in any case.

Front looks great, rear looks better, the side profile... from the B pillars back... looks odd. Don't know why, but it does.

I think they did a decent job, front is nice, BMW always tends to do a good job, but from the side the back looks a little long, and the rear has an old mazda, or cadillac catera look.

Very nice car I must say. I can't quite understand comments about "less Bangle influence"; the car is hardly any different than the 3er sedan, infact it has more creases in front. Strange to say the most criticized of the new designs - the 7er, which I love by the way - has the least juxtaposition of creases and curves. I just don't understand how some of the new BMWs are praised and others reviled, when they all spring from basically the same formula.
However, I feel the rear lights would have looked better like this:

Looks like Bangle was castrated and not allowed to do anything crazy. Like the redesigned 750, this model is more clean and sinuous, not angular and warped looking. Back end looks like a partial rip off of the A6. Improved, yes, but I'd rather wait for the new G35 coupe next year and get a much stylier car and more power for less cash...

Are these real, or PhotoChops? It looks like someone cleaned up the busy, Asian looking tail lights and awkward headlights, because they aren't warm on BMW's styling language.

As much as I love the BMW brand, I bet the interior still looks cheap, you can't get a trip computer without iDrive, and you can't get dual climate control (something that comes in a Honda).

Front end is nice...the back end is stupid. I agree with Steve...the interiors have looked pretty cheap lately...save for that gauge cluster.

I think it needs some work...I still like the E46's much better.

improvement over it's predecessor. In fact, I feel that the previous coupe looke more buff.

I may buy one when my Audi lease expires. I guess I'll have to glue some water noodles to the sides to prevent door dings in parking lots. When will BMW learn and put proper door ding protection on their cars? I'm happy to see the Bangle design influence declining. I'm ecstatic about the continuation of in-line 6 cylinder engines as they are best for proper engine balance.

The front looks really great but as you look towards the back it just doesn't look that great... well that's what I thought for a while... untill I gave it a good look... stare at the rear for about 2-3 mins and it will start to look better in your ways! Really! It works. Your eyes will mature to the look of the rear!

I think that this car mite not look as robust and powerful like the outgoing model it is definetly classy and it shows that they arent just to be sporty that they can be classy also good job
