WOMPWOMP: Lexus Passes On The LFA Roadster

WOMPWOMP: Lexus Passes On The LFA Roadster
If you have had your hopes up for another LFA variant, and you probably should have been reasonably expecting it given the company's drop-top concept, be prepared to be let down.

According to our friends at GTspirit, it is a "no go."

It would have been nice to see another 500 units running around in the near-term future.

Lexus has indicated to the press that there are no additional plans to release a LFA Roadster any time soon. The concept shown a few years ago will not go into production. Lexus will first focus on the development of the current coupé and the development of the Nürburgring Edition.

Although, the Japanese company doesn’t say no to the idea of bringing a roadster to the world around us...

Rightfully so. When their cheif designer dies in the coupe version, how well designed would a roadster be? Especially if safety is a concern.

Wow, there is so much wrong with that statement one does not know where to begin?

Probably a smart move. The coupe is already insanely overpriced, so couldn't imagine how ridiculous the roadster version would be.

I think Lexus spent all their R&D on the coupe. Having to create a convertible version would only cost them even more and the price would sky rocket to ridiculous pricing. It's already outrageously priced.

The coupe was overweight considering it's a carbon monocoque, having to add the extra rigidity in for a convertible version might bump the weight up into Camaro territory!

Sooooo, when is Toyota going to build somthing interesting again. Since the new Hachi-Roku has been pushed on down the road. Or is everything going to just remain a design concept while Toyota continues to pump out Prius's?

Yawn...Toyota, wake me up when you and Honda find the design philosophy you apparently lost somwhere at the turn of the century.

roadsters are not built for speed the are built to be seen in I like the ideal. I would not buy one but as a "real" car lover I love it when ANY brand brings out something new.
