China could dominate EV industry, says Vw’s Carl Hahn
Retired Volkswagen AG Chairman Carl Hahn said that China is urging the acceptance of electric vehicles in order to “leapfrog its competitors in the traditional automotive industry.”

At the Seoul Forum, a conference hosted by the Seoul Economic Daily newspaper, Hahn explained that China’s standing as the world’s largest auto producer gives it the economic power to dominate the EV industry. Hahn is credited for leading the company to enter a joint venture with China’s Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. that started production in 1985.

Might be a little early to claim world dominance just yet.

Quantity is a key ingredient, but China's automakers are still struggling with design, quality, and performance issues.

Don't mean to be rude but I would put more weight on what a former chairman of a large European car company has to say than the participants at Autospies. And I don't like Chinese businesses or business practices at all.

Depends on what is motivating Carl Hahn to make this statement. While it may be true and just a prediction on his part, he may also be exagerating the claim in order to gain funding (public or more likely - - - governmental) for EV research. Somewhere along the line, it is usually about the money.
