Battle of the Supercar Commercials

Battle of the Supercar Commercials
Strictly speaking supercars don't need commercials to sell. So what is the point of having a supercar commercial? Brand awareness is the answer. A supercar commercial allows a brand to create a connection between the badass supercar in the commercial and the rest of the company's product. Case in point the two latest commercials from Chevrolet and Lexus. Both feature the company's quickest, fastest and most expensive product. The Corvette ZR1 and LF-A.

So which commercial do you like better and think does more for its brand?

I think Lexus did it right with the DYNO in the commercial and the way it starts when the car starts and the gauges split to the left/right that was hot. but the way lexus narrated and showed the commercial I thought that they hit a home run but they already sold out alll of the cars even the 50 with he Nurburgring package so they doin something right.....now can we get to the actual toyota supra thats what im waiting for

The LFA is sold out which is great for Lexus. But I think both the LFA and the commercial focus a little too much on gimmicks rather than flat out performance. Which results in a difference between the LFA price and its performance level.

Lets see the Vette ad is a rip off of Jeeps new Grand Cherokee.

The Lexus ad is,well, dumb. I'm trying to think, the last time I bought a sports car if I asked "what is the Champange flute breaking ablity. I has absolutely nothing to do with performance.

Plagiarism of stupidity? I pass on both.

Lets look at two hypothetical scenarios

The first, the "average" consumer (if there were such a thing), sits down and watches the Lexus commercial, they get excited about seeing a supercar and decide to head to their nearest Lexus dealership to see what product they have to offer, they are then let down as the sportiest thing Lexus has to offer is a $55,000 sedan... or an aging $65,000 coupe that even Lexus fans seem to ignore.

Now the other scenario, after this "average" consumer watches the commercial they head out to their local Chevrolet dealership where they are greeted with a full range of products, they are greeted with the knowledge that if their wallets were big enough, they would be able to get the vehicle depicted in the commercial, or if it isn't big enough, that same car comes as low as $45,000, or even as a "baby" product which fills the gap down to $22,000.

Now true, the "average" consumer won't be in the market for a sports car, but how disheartening is it to know that even if you were in the market for one you couldn't get one from this manufacturer who tempted you to the lot under false pretenses in the first place?

The LFA does more for its brand. The LFA is what Lexus is capable of building and some might even say that the company is heading in the right direction with brand awareness. The Corvette on the other hand has been around much longer and shouldn't have to be advertised for people to know they exist because they already have a cult following. It's a very simple question guys, so, don't read into it too much because it'll simply show that you're bias.

lol good example about coming out biased out when you read into it too much.

I guess I'll have to agree about my statement showing me as being biased as well.
