Worst police accident – man ALIVE! [video]
A Santa Maria police officer hit a tree Sunday morning. But! The way it looks the car is just phenomenal. According to the local Police Chief, is the “worst accident he’s seen in 35 years.”

Officer Damon Badnell was responding to an officer involved in a foot pursuit of a burglary suspect when he lost control of his vehicle on a slippery road. The momentum wrapped the vehicle around the tree, nearly bisecting the Ford Crown Victoria.

This is a result of either lack of training, officer stupidity of getting overly excited, or just a typical stupid officer behind the wheel who thinks he's Superman. Maybe all of the above.

I'm far from being an expert driver, but common sense gives me an idea of how fast I can take a turn in the dry or in the wet. Yes, I could underestimate a turn and crash too but this photo tells me the officer was off accuracy by at least 50%. I wouldn't blame a regular driver for this, but an officer should be much more responsible and better trained. He could've killed someone too.

All I know is he must have been going SERIOUSLY fast to get that kind of result from the crash. Aren't police officers responding to a call limited to 60-70 MPH?

Looks faster than that.

Not to mention it happened at Main and Broadway. Now, I don't live in Santa Maria but obviously two streets with those names mark a MAJOR intersection as can be found on Google Maps.

Glad the officer lived to tell this tale but I hope some sort of investigation can pinpoint this on something where a lesson can be learned.

this moron needs to be fired for being so freakin stupid. i seriously hate cops who over-use their "powers". if its raining, you DONT SPEED! apparently this idiot is lacking a functioning brain and drove the crown victoria as if it was a sunny, dry day out. most of you are glad hes okay, but im gonna say the opposite.
