This must be for the US market - - - unless they are willing to concede market share in Europe. Indonesia and other developing countries are also heavy consumers of diesels, albeit probably not clean at the moment, but that is only a matter of time.

Tip for Honda: 20hp electric motors are only great for your lawn products division. Let's see 100hp motors driving the rear wheels, and lithium batteries instead of NiMH. Or just sit this one out and watch everyone else do it.

Diesels aren't exactly clean all of the time..
many times i see Audis, Ford etc.. when they put their foot down, a waft of black soot flies out the exhaust, probably clogged up from lot sof city driving etc..no way are diesels super clean..

Then you are not seeing the current models. I am thinking you might not be in the US. The only Ford diesels here are trucks, and only the very latest models are that cleaned up. There's no diesel Audis other than the Q7 and A3, which we have only had for the past year or so.

My daughter has an 09 Jetta TDI, and there's never so much as a puff from it. You can run your finger inside the exhaust pipe and it stays clean. My 06 Jetta (gas) isn't that clean.
