SPIED: Next Generation Toyota Camry Uncovered?

SPIED: Next Generation Toyota Camry Uncovered?
With all the noise about the new Hyundai Sonata and recall news from Toyota, you would think Toyota is dead in the water in the mid-size car wars.

But lets face it, this generation Camry has been around for at least 5 years and you gotta know Toyota is not going to lay down and let Hyundai steal the keys to the kingdom.

In other words, they ain't going down without a fight.

So you know somewhere in the bowels of Calty Design in Newport Beach, the next gen Camry is getting readied for the battle.

There is a lot of speculation around the net of what it will look like and tonight I figured out at least ONE thing the next Camry will sport.

You KNOW the LED headlight brows HAVE to be there.

First Audi, then Porsche, Mercedes/BMW, now on the new Lexus RX, they are appearing everywhere.

People just love them, including me.

So much so that they are rejecting cars that DON'T have them.

Take me for example.

I'm looking for a used Porsche and there are some killer deals on 06-08 911's.

But the problem is you don't get LED's till you get to the 09 models.

How crazy is that?

I don't want a car at a great deal because it's missing LEDS!

Man, am I jaded!

So your loyal AutoSpies.com agent got a kick out of meeting Wally tonight at Costco, when I saw his tricked out Camry with LED brows and other custom touches that he installed himself.

No, it's not a pic of the next gen Camry but this Spy is betting the next gens front headlights will be pretty close to Wally's!

Wally, that's one 'WACT' Camry!

Also, check out this crazy 2011 Sonata customization I came across in my supermarkets parking lot.

What the HECK is a F24GDI?

LOLOL!!!!

I absolutely LOVE seeing peoples passion and creativity when it comes to their chariots.

Probably even MORE, when it's BAD!!!!

Spies, discuss....

The thing about Hyundai is that they are doing a Awesome job at copying and pasting design from other automaker and making look more radical looking.

Toyota definitely need to hire a new design team for sure to spice up their boring design. Their concept look Awesome but their production is boring.

Their Lexus division has much better design like the Lexus IS, GS and LS 460/600hl.

IS and LS are pretty nice design, suitable for their positioning, but GS looks odd to me. It's too long and looks kinda clunky.

The funny thing is, Hyundai copied the E60 design with the Genesis, yet they made it look better than BMW itself. Yes, Hyundai's look better than BMW's. On top of that, they have a better warranty, are more reliable, and depreciate less.

The Toyota Camry is a better engineered car than any BMW.

PatrickBateman,

The only nerve that was hit was yours. That's why you got all personal in the first place. I just refuse to stoop down to your level. Go find another dance partner.

You "simply responded to how unintelligent and psuedo-sarcastic your posts come across."

- And how did you do that? By insulting me. LOL!! You just keep digging a deeper hole. And when I said stoop to your level, I meant no back and forth insults. I'll leave that adolescent stuff to you. Enjoy!!

And I'll also let you get the last word. So go ahead and say whatever you want. I guarantee that what you say wont be about cars.

Now I'm gonna take a play from out of your book and watch you take the bait and attack and insult me some more. You do it every time. LOL!!

First off, I also like to see how people with passion for their rides attempt to personalize and improve them with customizations. I hate to see crappy, half-baked implementations, curb feelers, etc., but the two here are not bad at all.

As far as LEDs and other lights go, I am actually growing tired of it. I thought BMW was one of the first with the corona rings on the 2001 5-Series. I have always liked them and really like how amped up they are with the new LED versions. They are so well integrated and tastefully done.

But many of the other implementations remind me of buying bolt-on parts from JC Whitney 30 years ago, especially the 4 LEDs in a straight line fitted into an air-dam intake area, as in certain Benzes, 911s and A6s. Certainly, the A5 and R8 have cool implementations, but now everyone, including Ford is doing it. It just seems like there are some managers in these firms saying "We need to add some LEDs to the front end...find a spot and start rolling them out, but don't spend a lot of money doing so.."

It reminds me of 10 years ago when everyone started carving Range-Rover Copy-Cat faux front vendor ports/vents. We started seeing them on many different makes and models (for no real purpose), only to see them die off 4 years later.

As far as tail light LEDs, go, there is real purpose there in terms of brightness and near-instant light-up. But just putting lights up there for very little purpose harkens back to the original Mercury Sable with its crappy light bar between the headlights.

This was a waste of space... it has some bootleg grill, terrible custom lights, and Lexus IS wheels... how is that the next generation Camry? They let anyone post on here don't they?

Please tell me that Agent001 didn't think that this was a next gen Camry? It's a horribly pimped out current generation Camry. Any teenager would be able to make the distinction.

I hoping most of our readers actually learn how to read someday...

The headline says-- SPIED: Next Generation Toyota Camry Uncovered?

Note the QUESTION MARK.

I didn't say it WAS the next gen Camry.

And then this line-- "No, it's not a pic of the next gen Camry but this Spy is betting the next gens front headlights will be pretty close to Wally's!"

So funny how people go off but don't READ before they vent.

oo1, first of all, all of your mis-leading titles have question marks.

secondly, i cant even be bothered to read the rest of the article due to extreme lack of creativity, knowledge, etc. its all cliche.

oo1, seriously, check this out: "SPIED: NEXT GEN TOYOTA CAMRY UNCOVERED??????" if you're already admitting in the article that IT IS NOT the new gen camry, why the hell would you even bother stating the above title?? just b/c it has 10k HIDs and a strip of LEDs??? unless you are dead-on desperate for attention, your title makes no sense whatsofreakinever and it couldnt be more mis-leading.

Come on. How is this even a question? It would take anyone who is paying any attention about 2 seconds to realize that this couldn't POSSIBLY be a next gen Camry. You're just trying to cover your tail now.

While I don't like the title you used, most of the commenters here missed the point of the post: LEDs going mainstream. There's plenty of other stuff in this world to get that pissed off about....

Was it the R8 that started this trend? As soon as I saw it, I thought yep, this will catch on, much like the "bangle butt" did, then phase out.

The leader in innovation always shines, the rest... well... are just bad imitations. I do not like the 911 straight LED line across the front, its plain and adds nothing, so is the shorter MB straight LED light across the front which is made even worse by the tacky fog light combo -looks like a bad aftermarket job. The A4, A5, Q5 and Q7 LEDs are done with style and quality and serve a purpose (daytime running lights) other than just "having them" like other wannabes.
No wonder why Audi is kicking some ...
