It's ot much that MB can do to really fill this gap between the ML. There isn't much to do for a design so we will have to wait untill they umask the new C Class. That's what it is probally based on. It honestly looks like a smaller M Class. I think Mercedes should have filled this gap from a long time ago. I am actually clueless of what it will look like! It's just the back I am really worried about because there is nor much Mercedes can do- unless they use the rear lights from the R Class. THat might look nice. Eh?

Well I give credit to M-B, they realized that their core products such as the C-class and E-class were losing their appeal and so they are moving to copy Lexus's winning strategy of a broad range of SUVs. Will it work - probably!
Are there risks sure - Lexus let the ES, previous GS and current LS get rather "long in the tooth" before replacing them. So MB engineering may be stretched thin by the SUVs and not as many resources applied to the sedans in the future.

I like the idea of the MLK but I thinking of a different name. It should slaughter the X3 on looks alone. Same with the RDX...Acura found a way to out ugly the ugliest of them all. I hope it has good power and comes in right under 30G's to start.

Lets face it Americans are in love with their SUVs. The only reason Lexus has outsold MB in the US is because of their 3 SUVs vs just one from MB. The G is unique and doesn't compete in this class.
MB is on the right track. I've driven both the ML and GL and there is a huge improvement over the old ML. The GL interior is second to none.
Once they start offering the Bluetec diesel they will crush the competition.
I have to agree that the X5 is a beautiful design, but the X3 is butt ugly.

Sorry Seena32 but the X3 is the most ugliest Car in the world, I think BMW's BIGGEST mistake EVA, the MLK is gonna wreck that weak ass X3.

Meh...
I don't really like the x3 or the x5. Hope MB makes a half way decent one.

Looks like MB wants to compete in all niches with their cars. This has been one of their missing links and will be interesting to see the final product. Hopefully MB's SUVs will utilize thier ownership of Jeep and make these cars not only good on road, but off road as well ( I know most owners will probably never take them off the urban jungle roads, but would be nice to know they will work if it is ever needed.)

Is one of the fastest growing. But the market will soon be filled with a new Mazda, Acura, M-B, Audi Q5 and new X3. The flood is coming.

MB doesn't need to learn anything from Jeep. They build the worlds best off-roaders UNIMOG and G class.
