Mazda working on a turbocharged successor to the RX-7 sports car
As early as 2013, Mazda is expected to introduce a turbocharged successor to the RX-7. Insiders say that the new RX-7, which is likely to be named RX-9, will keep the rotary Renesis technology used by its predecessors and the RX-8.

Notably, production of the RX-8, which has unimpressive torque and poor fuel economy, will end next month. However, Mazda is currently examining several radical options that would make the powerplant generate better economy and would provide torque that’s needed to keep pace with competitors such as the VW Scirocco.

There are plenty of affordable, stylish, and high performance coupes on the market today. Mazda is going to have to arrive armed to the teeth to avoid the same fate as the previous RX-7s.

Bring it back already. The Japanese sports car market is heating up again. The GT-R, LF-A, RX-7, and Honda needs to build that damned NSX then we're back in the 90's!

Just call it the RX-7. The RX-8 was a mockery of the RX name when put in comparison to the last RX-7 brought to market. If Mazda brings this and offers it at a pricepoint below the Nissan 370Z it will be a HUGE hit.
