Mercedes-Benz's 2011 E63 Gets A Much Needed Interior Upgrade
If you have read my recent review of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, you would probably know by now that it is one of the greatest shows on Earth.

Problem is, its interior is probably one of the most disappointing aspects of the entire vehicle. It totally lacks that quality feeling and Mercedes quality that is so ever present on its other models.

Well, Benz must have been listening to critics because it went back to the drawing board in order to rectify that specific issue.

The almighty Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is entering the 2011 model year with some interior revisions in the form of "ARTICO" leather appointments on the upper section of the dashboard and door beltlines and new black piano lacquer finish trim on the upper section of the center console.

In addition to these standard upgrades, Mercedes-Benz is also offering new optional appointments with the introduction of the "Designo Leather II" in which the lower section of the dashboard, the glove compartment lid, the door linings including map pockets and the side upholstery of the centre console are covered in exclusive nappa leather...

@ErichHartmann

When you compare interiors of vehicles in similar class/price the E63 AMG was really chintzy.

Nothing subjective about that.

Much needed is much exaggerated. The changes are nice but critical? C'mon imagine your friend explaining the benefits of the new "Artico" leather in his e class versus the old without wanting to kick the spoiled fool between the legs. Putting more spokes on a wheel doesn't make it any better...unless it only had one spoke to start with. LOL

I never found any issues with the current E-class interior. From driving an S class for the past 2 years I found it right in place underneath the flagship model. Everyone's nitpicking against the E63 hammer fist because they sure as hell can't nitpick about its power and evolutionary design for a Mercedes.

Shall I nitpick about my Lexus wood trim cracking on me? I left the car in an underground parking lot for 1 month in Phoenix and came back with a track. I can literally pry it open. Yet I still don't nitpick about it because I still in a way like the car, although very bored of it.

Compare apples to apples. It's not an SLS AMG or a Zonda F. But it's still very special.
