OOPS! 2012 Dodge Durango/Magnum Leaked Thanks To Twitter
It is a time like this that I love Twitter, which can be arguably considered one of the stupidest inventions online. Thanks to AsianMartin, it is pretty clear that the 2012 Dodge Durango/Magnum has been unveiled.

Just a little earlier than anticipated...

Supposedly based on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is based on a Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, we think it looks pretty humble.

What say you, Spies? STUD or DUD?

Hmm, did Chrysler release 2012 Dodge Magnum photos yet?

Looks decent...at this point I'm just not sure why I or anyone else would buy this rather than a Jeep. I'm sure this will be cheaper.

My understanding was that the Dodge Durango/Magnum is supposed to be built on the same chassis as the Mercedes-Benz GL, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee is built on the same chassis as the Mercedes-Benz ML. They are probably all the same basic chassis, but the Durango/Magnum and GL have a longer wheelbase while the Grand Cherokee and ML use a shorter wheelbase.

Anyway, the Dodge Durango/Magnum (just like the Mercedes-Benz GL) is supposed to be available with a 3rd row seat that isn't availabile in the Grand Cherokee. That's a pretty good reason to consider it over a Grand Cherokee.

Don't know what is taking them so long to unveil it!

Looks like its just been unveiled, lol, gotta love camera phones. My only question is if this is gonna wear the Magnum name or Durango? My guess is Durango... But it looks good, probably also a slight hint as to what the next Charger will look like as well.

Honestly Chrysler is making a good move by not revealing it early. Remember how freaking long it took for GM to get the production Camaro to dealers? Remember how some thought it was already getting stale?

If this doesn't debut until November or December and production starts in February and the cars hit the lots in April then the cars seem fresh.

I don't like how the designers sort of "stopped" when they got to the A-pillars. The front is clean and a aggressive, and from the spyshots, the rest is meh...

After this, Chrysler should just release pics Friday morning.

To bad the Aspen is cancelled. The "new" Chrysler would have probably knocked that one out of the park considering how good these new jointly developed with Daimler SUV's are.

I meant to ask/add: So the Durango/Magnum is based on the extended version of the platform like the GL and Grand Cherokee on the shorter like ML? Also, is that Pentastar going to be standard here or will they just start at the Hemi because of the bigger size?

I would guess the Pentastar will be standard. The 5.7 (no longer called Hemi for marketing purposes) v8 will be optional. As for which platform, I haven't heard anything, nor has Chrysler released any info. Although I am sure allpar.com has the info.

I appreciate the answer to my question.

The first gen durango had good styling. Second gen was questionable. This looks nice. Gills stated the interiors will be in line with the caliber of the Grand C. Base engine will be the pen V6 290 hp with the available 5.7 VVT CD 390 hp Hemi. They have spoken briefly about the SRT 6.4 with 460 hp.
