Yes with a DI turbocharged 4 cylinder. 260 hp isn't going to be difficult to get out of the Ecoboost 4 cylinder, GM has had that for like 3 years with the LNF.

The Explorer is actually a little smaller than the Lambdas, the Flex would be closer to their Ford competition. But I'm still impressed by this truck.

Not as refined as the 2011 Jeep but a great update for FORD's Explorer.

What exactly did Ford do? Design a great vehicle for reputation and promising sales for a certain amount of time... and then force the competition to build something better and raise the cost of developing the mid-size SUV altogether? aha
mmm... I've been waiting for 2010 for a loooonnng time; I think I can take another 6-8 years to see how the auto industry will evolve. It probably wouldn't be that hard now that it's easier to have internet right by my side at all times.

I just can't belive Ford is putting a 2.0 4 cylidner in this, albeit a turbocharged one. That really takes balls. A sure-fire way to get me to consider a Ford (any Ford) would be to drop a diesel in it and I am sold. Ford is as likely to do that as they are to offer a V8 in this thing, so I guess I'll be one of those looking at one instead of owning. That aside, it's not bad to look at, looks like it has quality pieces and mechanically it's interesting. Good luck with it, Ford.

Ford has access to GREAT diesel technology in the new Powerstroke family from their trucks. But instead of the 6.8 they need to make it smaller 5.8 for the Explorer

Venice Beach looks about as far off-road as this Explorer could journey, but at least Ford built it without government money.

Is this car supposed to be a replacement for the Flex since it is the same size and seating configuration? There is no good reason to build them both. Get rid of the Edge while you are at it since this one looks so much like it, and then move the Escape up market a little bit.

No they will be two different markets. The Flex's styling doesn't appeal to many and the Explorer has such a massive reputation in the past it makes sense to build the Explorer now and wait for sales on the Flex to die and then kill it.

The Flex is for people who loved their boxy wagons with loads of space and not too high off the ground looks. The Explorer is for the SUV faithful and for Ford not to continue with the SUV that killed the boxy Jeep Cherokee when it debuted back in the early 1990's would be just dumb. Two different segments completely.
