If you did not manage to catch the 2011 Audi A7 Sportback unveiling yestreday, AutoSpies has the solution for you. We've got tons of images of the all-new A7 sedan/wagon/whatchamacallit.

And from our initial impressions, it does not seem to be fairing out too well. While some users did say the car was attractive, the majority of comments hinted that the new A7 places near the end of its respective competition -- in terms of looks.

Just to clarify, we think the A7 will go up against BMW's 6'er Gran Coupe, 5-Series GT, Mercedes-Benz's updated CLS-Class and the Porsche Panamera.

But to ensure that you've gotten the best impression of the A7 we're going to provide you a full gallery that details the nitty gritty of Audi's latest creation.

Love the hatch and TDI's smokin 44.38 US mpg. Great GT for a 2.8 person family and a dog.

Can also pull Home Depot and Costco duty

Looks better than the A8 (what doesn't).

Price it properly and it will sell.

@sdcarguy

Hm, while I do appreciate the A7's more aggressive face, I totally believe the 2011 A8 looks better, particularly in Black with the 19'' rims shown in the second picture from the top.

To each their own?

Looks better in darker colors, but the rear still looks odd, and when the trunk is open it looks like Audi's version of an EL Camino.

Which would matter because people go around driving with the boot open... Whatever!

Nice interior, but the exterior does not do justice to its "sporty" identity. If I was looking for a sporty 4 door alternative to the A8, I would choose the 5GT or CLS over the A7. Unless I liked that rear end slope, why would I choose this over the A8? The front half is almost identical as is the interior.

The 5GT is sportier than the A7? Er, I D K about that. I mean, I know we're splitting hairs here but the GT wish it looked as good as the A7 OR as 'sporty.'

The 5GT looks more SUV/crossover-ish while the A7 looks squat. Only way to tell will be getting them side-by-side...

I completely agree with you on that; because Audi does not do a great job of selling it as a "sporty" alternative to the A8. Nevertheless, I'm still stuck on the awesome concept instead of this boring mundane car. I hate when they tease us like this. Now, don't get me wrong, this car is still a well executed automobile in my opinion. It just doesn't fit the qualifications of "sporty alternative" to the A8.

The a8 looks much better. in fact i will buy the a8 but with the a7 face.

looks a little better, the next a6 will look exactly like this, except without the hatch. I still don't like the rear though. I'm also not a fan of the huge chrome grills, looks like a lowered truck IMO.

On the interior there is a thin piece of wood trim that stretches along below the windshield. Audi stole that from the new Jaguars.

...Then I guess Jaguar stole the idea from the W208 CLK-Class Mercedes-Benzes?

I mean, we can play this game all day...

True, the CLK could ultimately get credit for it. But the new XJ, and now this car have the wood stretch around into the doors woodwork. Just an observation.

Looks nothing different than the rest of the Audis......only the ugly rear

Unlike other ugly coupe/saloons out there, all of which are slightly ugly, this gets WORSE every time you look at it!

I'm not a big fan of Audi's but I do like the S5 Sportback, I was hopeing that Audi would make the A7 look like a meatier version of that.. but instead it kind of looks like a cross between the Alien Queen from the Alien films, a dead fish, and dried up animal excrement.

Mind you the new CLS is even worse... The gran coupe is the easiest design to "get along with", but I agree the 5GT is FUGLY compared to it's peers.

Today, if it were my money it would be on the Panamera, even over the Aston.

not bad looking - looks pretty much like every other Audi out there...lower riding 5-series GT maybe? I am surprised there is no V8 at launch (at least according to Audi web site). The start button positioning doesn't seem like the safest place.

Anyone know if the pricing will be more like A6 or A8?

Based on Audi's nomenclature, the A7 will probably be priced in between the A6 and A8.
