Rumor: Buick Regal Coupe under ‘very strong consideration’
Buick is doing what it can to break away from its image over real handling ad performance. LaCrosse is believed to have started well.

The new Regal is proceeding nicely while it’s believed that the GS is lagging behind. But in a webchat earlier this week, Roger McCormack, Buick’s product marketing director, told consumers that the Regal Coupe is under “very strong consideration.” Last May, there were reports about a coupe but it was divulged that the car would only be made until 2013 or 2014 at the earliest. However, a coupe version of the Regal is expected to be a niche vehicle, assembled to raise profile and offer a status option within the brand.

After a thoroughly enjoyable test drive of the sedan, I say Bring It On!

Sounds great but doing fast is time to calm down the copy and paste Hiunday/Kia and the embarrasing Toyota with theirs issues.

I'd like a lively engine with their most advanced Eco-Boost turbos on tap. Ford is taking advantage of this technology, when is GM going to release their turbos? They developed this technology together for pete's sake

Ford has the Ecoboost engine series, a 3.5/3.7 V6 and a 2.0 4 cylinder. GM has had the turbocharged DI 2.0 LNF since 2007. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Family_II_engine#LNF

There is NOTHING shared between the Ford and GM engines! They are completely separately developed and share NO parts.

Ford has branded their DI turbocharged engines Ecoboost. GM has no such brand for its DI turbochraged series.

Again GM doesn't have any Ecoboost engines. GM had no input into the development of the Ford Ecoboost engines. GM and Ford worked together on the FWD 6 speed automatics now used in both companies vehicles.

As for when GM will put the 2.0T DI 4cylinder into the Regal, well pretty quick since they debuted the Regal with a 2.0T DI 4 cylinder.

These new models from Buick show a lot of promise.
I have a couple of suggestions to add a few models to the lineup quickly while raiding the corporate parts bin for minimal costs.
1) Opel Astra reworked and introduced as the Buick Apollo Hatchback.
2) Pontiac G6 retractable-top coupe reworked to the Regal hardtop Coupe.
3) Corvette/XLR reworked to be the HALO Buick Riviera strictly with the 3.5 DI V6 power
What do you guys think.

Sorry mate, but bringing back old crappy cars such as the XLR would probably do more harm than good. When cars are phased out, it ususally means the parts supply chain is broken, the tooling has been dismantled and the workforce has been assigned elsewhere or fired.
Resuming production would be too expansive, investing that money r&d for future models is a way better call.

The Astra will be coming stateside as an Opel within the next 2 years. A convertible Epsilon II Buick could easily happen. It could wear the Velite concept design. The XLR showcased just how poorly sharing the Corvette's Y-body does in practice.

"The Astra will be coming stateside as an Opel within the next 2 year"

Not sure if we are bringing Opel as a brand to the US.
