VIDEO: What Ferrari Prototype Is THIS? 458 Italia Spyder?
What do you get when you're in Maranello, you hear a screamin' Ferrari motor and see one of the goofiest-looking prototypes race past you as if it is the Targa Florio?

According to the boys at GTspirit, you get the 458 Italia Spyder.

Although Ferrari is known to produce some of the most peculiar looking prototypes, we believe they may have outdone themselves this time. If you do not recall, when Ferrari was working on the Enzo one of the prototypes was a mis-mosh of 348, 355 and 360 parts with an extra bonus; that big ol' V12 motor.

So, nothing really is much of a stretch here. The only thing 00R knows is that it sounds pretty damn good.

What say you, Spies?

YouTube user Malox91 has spotted and filmed a mysterious Ferrari 458 prototype a few days ago near Ferrari’s factory in Maranello, Italy. The vehicle is disquised from front to back, which makes it hard to distinquish the model.

We generally believe that the vehicle in the video is the new Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder, which will hit the market in 2011...

Could be - - - but why would they need to camouflage it so heavily? If it based on the existing car, the development and testing should be minimal. For instance, why would the nose need to be changed and why camouflaged for a production piece. This could be one of the new hybrids/electrics that Ferrari keeps threatening to do.

it's everything but a mid-engined car. california coupe or hybrid (maybe a mixture of both) sounds more reasonable to me.

It's most likely the new GT 2+2. Ferrari is traditionally very good at distracting you with eye candy such as the new 458 challenge while planning to unveil something you've completely forgotten about.
