VIDEO: BMW's Gran Coupe, How MUCH Will It Influence Future BMW Designs?
The funny thing about BMW is that it is a brand that tends to show a lot of what is coming forward with its concepts. Usually the "Concept" winds up being the real deal with a few practical tweaks.

And, if you had not noticed, a lot of other brands are starting to bring forward cars that bear likeness to its concept.

For example, General Motors brought forth the Camaro, which looks nearly identical to its concept. Additionally, Audi's recently launched A7 looks pretty damn spot on, when compared to the Sportback Concept, which debuted at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

Back to BMW. With the recent relevation that the Gran Coupe has been given the go ahead from higher-ups, we can now take a look at its design and understand what it exactly means for the Bavarians going forward.

How much do you believe will be inherited across the line up?
We know that the upcoming 6-Series will look pretty close to the Gran Coupe, but what influence will the Gran Coupe have on other models?

**Take a look at the video below to hear an in-depth take on the Gran Coupe from the head of exterior design at BMW, Anders Warming.

This study provides a look ahead to the design-future of BMW. Anders Warming, Head of Exterior Design BMW, shows the details and ideas behind this elegant concept...

What is that? BMW seems to be getting its stride back. The bangle effect is wearing off I see.

"How MUCH Will It Influence Future BMW Designs?" - really strange question since it's so obviously just an minor evolution of existing BMW designs.

@Nostradamus

You know, with a name like yours I thought you provide some insight...

I wouldn't call it a minor evolution. While there is a "BMW foundation" there are a helluva lot of tweaks/mods/differentiation

No interior shots of this car has surfaced yet...they probably haven't finalized that design yet...but I have high expectations based on the exterior design.

The design language will go through the F12 & F13 line-up as well (up coming new 6 Series Coupe & Cabriolet). The rear, character lines, front facia & more will trickle down in limited forms with new models. After this recession there will a return to glamor. Mercedes is also included with it's new design. This car started around 2004, with approval granted in 2003.

Looks nice. But we need the return of the exotic 2 door 8 Series sport coupe. And the 6 Series looks too fat and bland. I'd rather have a Kia for looks. Even the new 3 series makeover for 2011 makes it look very bad. The headlights are fatter and weird, and the nose grill looks shapeless and way too round and disgusting. BMWs are starting to look real ugly. I think BMWs looked their best in the mid to late 90s, and some into the middle of the past decade. Twin turbocharged engines are fantastic and amazing, but BMW should not get rid of the V10. They should improve on it, and put it in a new Supercar exotic model, because BMW is the only car company that does not have an exotic!?

Forgive me, but am I missing something here? I'm not impressed one bit. And another apology. Am I the only one on Earth that struggles to see what these people mean when they say that the car looks like it's moving while standing still? What exactly is that supposed to mean? All mumbo jumbo, frankly. Hype as usual. Nothing more.

@tango

Tango, gets real.

I see your point. It is a bit of "design hobblewash" to say it looks like it is moving while standing still.

As long as they don't start using the Toyota Celica's "Looks fast!" line, I am fine with it.
