25,000th Porsche Panamera rolls off the production line
It appears that it has been an amazing year for the Porsche Panamera, which became one of the most popular sedan on the market.

Most of them seem to be in So Cal.

Might not be the case, but I do see a lot here, both in the suburbs and downtown.

Twenty-Five-Friggin'-Thousand?

I'll be honest, I thought that 2,500 was going to be a stretch.

They had customer orders for 10,000 before the first one was delivered.

All of those who bought one are crazy, too. And I own a Porsche. Just not something that hideous looking.

Same here. It's not a very photogenic vehicle. But, in person, it's a pretty handsome and imposing car. If I knew I could afford owning one, I probably would. It's on my list of "Sh*t I hated but now adore", along with the BMW X6. However, I do and will always think the 5 series GT an ogre of a vehicle no matter how well it performs.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously 25,000 people think its beautiful enough. Frankly I don't think it looks that bad in person. Remember the Bangle styled 5 series and 7 series. Talk about ugly. Yet sales soared. 25,000 people beleive they are driving a 911 with 4drs with the engine up front.

Too many haters in this world. If that think looked like a Ferrari everyone would be head over heels because of it's prancing horse. Get real folks. Everyone loves to hate on Porsche including myself. They do a lot of things right and good and I just try to nitpick. Styling is subjective. The performance is undoubtedly very impressive.

Now after driving and living with few Panameras, I like everything about it but the rear end still has not grown on me. I hope Porsche improve the rear end by giving it new tail lights and redesigned bumper/diffuser when it is time for facelift.

Panamera is ugly. I wouldn't have thought so many fat-cat douches had such bad taste for cars. It is spoiled by styling that is trying too hard to be Porsche. Can't criticize it for the way it drives, in spite of being porky.

I've said this a few times about the Panamera's styling. A simple styling trick to help reduce the bulk of the hump back styling is to extend the windows aft of the C pillar a la 911 style. You would also have to create the allusion of fake rear vent windows as the window length aft of the front door becomes very long. But this would be extending that window beyond what it is now with a 911 shape and therefore would reduce the allusion of bulkiness the current car has.The current window aft of the Cpillar is too shortand all you see is the extra metal going towards the rear hatch.I also think that the front end could look a little more like the new Cayenne(which I think looks a lot better now).Frankly if you look at the car from dead on at boths ends it does not look all that bad. It's when you get to the side an rear 3/4 view that it falls down.

The thing with Panamera is not in the eyes of beholder IMO. You see, there are lot of them are leased, leased vehicles are acquired primarily through business entities for tax purpose in a way. Drivers have been with S-Class and 7-series for DECADES, gladly for them, they now can enjoy another great four-door German sedan. Folks who are driving them have the money to spend, but not necessarily a car buff like people on this forum, For them, image and status is what makes money for them, as you can see all the nice cars in Entourage driven by H'Wood agent, deal makers, up and coming heartthrobs, you get the picture. In my humble opinion, for a real deal, only 911 warrants a true Porsche. You guys need to keep in mind, Panarama is made to boost Porsche's bottom line now under VW group, it is a great strategic move for them. I never doubted the superb engineering wisdom from Porsche by any means, Panamera is an ingenious product, Turbo version is the epitome of the Porsche engineering. I agree with most avid Porsche fans, only rear-mounted engine can be called a true Porsche, but time changes, anything doing good for Porsche, I am all for it, tks folks, first-timer here, tread lightly.
