Breaking: 2012 Nissan Murano Convertible coming at the LA Auto Show
Although many of you might take this as a joke, remember it is not April Fools and it is true, absolutely for real: Nissan will launch a two-door convertible version of its Murano crossover. Set to make its debut at this year’s LA Auto Show in November, the new car will go on sale in the spring of 2011, as a 2012 model.

I think somthing got lost in the translation in the original article. This vehicle would be based on the Murano platform but have an entirely different layout. So in essence this wont be a convertible Moron-O it will be an entirely new car.

My question is...who would buy this? You want a two door drop top SUV...why not get a jeep? I realize Nissan is going after a vehicle that has never existed...but does anyone really want it?

I guess you could throw in the old Sherrod Conversions Ford Bronco II as a past equivilant. Though that market was really small. And the ford could actually go off road, soooooo Im wondering what Nissan is thinking here.

If this is a mistranslation, it's picked up enough steam to warrant a photoshop rendering. See here: http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/07/2012-nissan-murano-convertible-to-debut-at-the-2010-la-auto-show.html

Oh contrare ! With all due respect to above submissions this vehicle will appeal to an extremely broad group of consumers, myself included. I was hoping the BMW M6 would have done this first but credit to Nissan to be first. The demand to have this vehicle produced will be loud and strong. Reasons...a fun, large safe family convertible for the young...a comfortable, easy to enter four wheel drive for older empty nesters. It may not appeal to some but it will be very attractive to others and a big seller. Prediction...within five years Mercedes, BMW
Audi and others will follow suit. You heard it here first !!

Convertibles shouldnt exist in the first place. If you want air blasting on your face buy a motorcycle.
