Is The 2011 VW Jetta Still A "Chick" Car? How About Vs. A Ferrari And A Moped?

Is The 2011 VW Jetta Still A
Now, I know some of you think that some of us agents have an insecurity problem. Rest assured, we do not.

But we do know that there are certain cars on the road today that carry specific stereotypes. One of them is the Volkswagen Jetta. For whatever reason, it has been given that "chick car" status.

During conversations with car shopping buddies, I have told my male friends to give the Jetta a shot only to be confronted with "Nah, man. It's a 'chick' car." Even though Volkswagen claims that the ratio of male to female buyers is even, perception says otherwise.

And, whatever I say cannot dissuade these gentlemen. Hell, I even tried to inform them about the GLI and the DSG gearbox, to no avail.

With that said, I was looking through 001's 2011 Volkswagen Jetta photo gallery, taken from the launch in San Francisco and stumbled upon an image that made me say "Hmm."

So, I ask: which is the "girliest" of the three? The '11 VW Jetta, Ferrari California OR the Vespa-looking moped?

What say you, Spies?

As far as the three vehicles pictured, I'd think the vespa would have the highest male sales. Albeit most of them would probably have a strong estrogen balance in them...

also, I have a concern regarding sales vs who actually drives the vehicle... wouldn't a more accurate statistic be who registers the vehicle?

Still perceived and is a car for Senior Citizens in Germany. They laugh at how we have raised it to uber California chick ride. That's right blondes do look good driving in these. Back when Circle Audi had different lines for Vw and Audi owners. I scoffed at how the service writer talked down to the VW owners, I asked him him if he would talk to me the same way if I had a Toureg, he looked befuddled and disgusted that I would ask him such a question.

Golf/GTI is seen as the guy's car and Jetta's turned chick when they changed the body style after the square headlights generation dropped off (early 2000's). I would argue though that the potential reason why the buyers are almost 50/50 male and female in all seriousness could be that many of the male buyers are gay. Not loser gay, but homosexual.

No I am not phobic or stereotyping, just giving something for thought since the article talks of cars image which does not correlate to the sex of buyers.

Don't know about others but California is definitely a Ferrari for ladies.
Looks very ordinary for a Ferrari like Porsche Boxster and face looks too much like a Lotus Elise.

The answer to your question is: "yes".
I never understood why, but I preceive the Golf to be more masculine.

No. The Jetta is for frat boys who yearn for a 3-series, and the Ferrari is for chicks or balding hedge-funders. That scooter, though, has dude written all over it.
