2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI A-Line: first photos released
Subaru revealed the first photos with the brand new 2011 Impreza WRX STI A-Line sedan, the automatic-transmission version of the popular car.

The bad news regarding this vehicle is that it will be available only on the Japanese market. The good news is that the new car will carry a five-speed automatic transmission mated to a turbocharged/intercooled 2.5-liter engine found also on the brand new 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI which was revealed at the New York Auto Show.

It looks like the market gets what the market wants, in Australia anyway! Anyone who buys this car, should be singled out and labeled a poser, because that is what they are! If you want the attitude and image that goes with this car, learn to drive stick.

As for the bad news, it's a shame Subaru even placed a slush box in the car. I hope the sales justify it.

The front looks great, side profile looks great, the interior looks great but the rear reminds me a Toyota Vios (for those who know what it is) although it doesn't look exactly the same.

Why is this bad news? People who are performance enthusiasts do not need automatics. Case in point people in automatic Corvettes get laughed at. The reason you don't see the automatic coming here is that 100% of the buyers of an STI would not pick an automatic. For that you can get the WRX with a lame two pedal setup.

Leave the performance to enthusiasts who enjoy shifting. Just because automatics can be faster than a manual, doesn't mean people need them. I don't plan on going to the track or drag racing my cars, but I enjoy the pleasure of driving a manual.

You are going to have to peal my standard shifter out of my cold dead fingers!
