SPIED: The SPIES Bring You The FIRST Shot Of The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL Interior
The Auto Spies are up to it again!

Thanks to our friends at Auto Motor Und Sport, we've got the first shot of the upcoming 2012 SL-Class interior. And, interestingly enough, it is boasting some serious likeness -- in terms of design -- to the current 2011 SLS AMG.

Also, it looks somewhat similar to the recent spy photographs of the SLK-Class prototype also currently undergoing testing. Could Mercedes-Benz be lining up a couple of SLS wannabes? Is MB following the good ol' "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, probably is a duck," thing?

Because we doubt even if Benz were to build an SL65 Black that it could be as cool as the outrageous SLS.

Could we be wrong? Check out some video of the SL-Class getting a serious workout on the track down below...

First shots? I got a month old Car and Driver with picture and I built one on MBUSA two weeks ago.

Uh? Eh?

We're talking about the 2012 SL-Class, which is shown in the video above.

What are you referencing?

The materials Mercedes now uses for the buttons are a lot better than before (the circly headlights and triangular taillights era). Hopefully a touch of chrome can greatly improve those nasty airvents.

Leather around the Nav+Airvents area for the V12 model would be a nice finishing touch although I hope the designers do a little something about the leather tone because the leather on the GL's dash looks very nasty.

Oh, and perhaps glassy black to the areas left and right of the Nav display.

This is a copy off the slr. With all do respect I believe that a superior model should have it own unique styles cues. Than again thats just me.

More so the SLS. The SLR was nowhere as good looking inside.

Anyways, you're asking too much of Mercedes-Benz aha

Whats the deal with the small screen? I've seen Navless $20k cars with a bigger screen. Profit Margins anyone?

How big does the friggin screen have to be? I have zero problems reading navigation details of small screens and I suspect many other people won't either.

"How big does the friggin screen have to be?"

- Bigger than screens in cars that cost 1/4 as much.

"I have zero problems reading navigation details of small screens and I suspect many other people won't either."

- What about the people that do have problems? Earth to Willis... Everyone on the planet isn't exactly like you.

Does look smallish. With the 5.5 turbo this will likely outperform the SLS. Almost the same problem Mercedes had with SLR and the V12 SLs.

First of all, the screen is more than big enough, any bigger and it would look like a cheap "ghetto" add-on.

Second, the SLR had no problem outperforming the V12s because of the HUGE weight advantage.
