VIDEO: Cadillac's CTS-V Coupe Vs. Shelby GT500, Who Are YOU Taking Home?
It seems that a lot of people were blown away when the BMW M3 blew away the competition in a recent comparison test. But, I think there is something that a lot of people are missing out on:

Why would anyone cross shop the vehicles shaking each other down? It's just not real.

So, let's get in touch with reality. We're talking about 550-horspower contenders from American brands. That means when Road and Track wisely put together the CTS-V Coupe and Shelby GT500 together for a drag race, at least they were thinking.

After the race, let us know who you'd be taking home...

So what was wrong with luxury cars having lots of power? NOTHING! :D

If I had to make a choice between these two, I'm going with Caddy. It's faster and probably a better handling car. In the real world, I would choose neither.

Notice how vibration free the Caddies interior is compared to the Ford. After seeing the CTS-V in the metal, I would have to go with the Cadillac. That is one wicked coupe.

Im confused as to why you think the Shelby Gt500 is a better match up for the CTSV these 2 cars and missions couldnt be more different....., I think its pretty ignorant to say that a car like the Cadillac is more line with a high po Mustang than an Audi or BMW....and your being realistic??? Not knocking the Mustang but clearly your saying the CTS-V isnt good enough and thats just not true the Cadillac in all honesty probably would have won that test with a better transmission it sounded almost perfect other than that according to the test......

@bmwdrvr

When you ass-ume, you make an ass out of yourself while trying to make an ass of me.

I never said the V wasn't good enough. In reality, though, an M3 or RS5 buyer LIKELY would not even give the V a shot or test drive.

Give yourself more credit you accomplished that on your own without my help.....as amazing as the Shelby is and it sounds amazing as well a buyer looking for the ultimate mustang probably isnt looking at the ultimate Cadillac that makes no sense it is more likely someone looking for a high performance luxury car would be more willing to go into Cadillac showrooms to view the CTSV-Coupe...errr logic clearly wasted.

Love the V but the Shelby is worth buying just for the exhaust note.

The CTS-V is a wonderful high tech monster. The 6-spd tranny would not be a problem for me what so ever. DCT is more useful for track and actually sucks ass for stop and go traffic as well as instant light to light acceleration. 1% probably take it to the track anyway.

Aside from that, front looks great but I don't like the 3/4 rear side view. It looks too thick and the trunk is up too high.

Although I'd never cross shop the two, the little kid in me enjoyed the video. GM created a straight line missle with the CTS-V, has anything else in its segment toppled it yet?

Nope nothing has beat it yet from the Asians or Germans in speed cost or warranty. CTS-V Demonstrates that Americans are competing once again!

I would say it's also a curvy missle since it's one of the best on turns as well.
