A Vote For The "Home" Team OR Does The Lacrosse Not Get Credit?

A Vote For The
As "journalists" you would expect all writers to adhere to a code of ethics and placing their morals in front of their respective business. Well, not everyone can be AutoSpies.

Unfortunately, plenty of firms have "sold out" their own cred in order to make a quick buck through ad sales. They don't tell the truth nor give credit where its due.

Example "A," the 2010 Ford Taurus was not the second coming of Christ as some publications would have led you to believe.

But, The Detroit News' Scott Burgess brings up an intriguing point: does the 2011 Buick Lacrosse deserve even more positive feedback that what has been bestowed upon it?

Hm, good question. Having driven one myself, I believe it is a good car. But a great car? May be pushing your luck there, Mr. Burgess.

Keeping this in mind, we want to know is Burgess giving a vote for the home team or is the '11 Lacrosse really all that and a bag of chips?

General Motors Co. just doesn't get the credit it deserves some times.

A few years ago, GM was the first carmaker -- in the world -- to mate a six-speed transmission to a four-cylinder engine for a midsize car. Everyone had been talking about it, but no one else had done it.

But when GM announced the Chevy Malibu would include an optional four-cylinder engine with a six-speed tranny, creating a car that hit 32 mpg on the highway, no one seemed to care that much, though many carmakers have followed suit.

Once again, GM seems to be getting the short end of the recognition stick with the 2011 Buick LaCrosse. The car is on fire -- and I don't mean that in the Ford Motor Co.'s cruise control kind of way. LaCrosse sales are up 228 percent this year through July, according to Autodata Corp. And earlier this year, Buick introduced a direct injection 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission for the LaCrosse...

I've been a fan ever since I first saw it. But I think my attention has shifted to the Regal somewhat.

The Lacrosse is a great looking car. I like where GM is going with Buick's design. It is bold, fresh and in your face. Definitely not you Grandma's old Century here.

The Lacrosse is a solid effort. Two shorcomings: increadibly thick A pillars and a high beltline which creates a bathtub effect, and, AWD cannot be combined with the top engine. Go figure. Overall, though, it's a sound foundation for building a new Buick brand.

A high belt line is a trade mark of most American made cars. Could this American design trend be happening as American car companies are trying their best to make cars look like sporty SUVs, or do they believe this makes the customer feel safer?

I love the LaCrosse. The entire line of Buick vehicles are pretty sweet. The first car I ever crashed was an 86 Regal limited. lol.

Well forget whatever the negative comments says on Autospies`about the Lacrosse, because the plant that makes them in Kansas is cranking them out in overtime 6 days a week.
