Although the Honda Civic Type R represents the dream of every driver, it appears that the Japanese manufacturer took the decision to stop selling the car in many areas of Europe from the end of 2010.

Why? Because the sporty hatch it’s not so eco-friendly and does not currently meet the Euro 5 emission regulations. The company will continue to sell the Civic Type R in markets where regulations allow it,

A bit disheartening to read, but it is about time for a replacement, and this one will be remembered fondly for both its handsomely futuristic looks, and solid performance.

The Civic Type R represents the dream of every driver? I am nowhere near to having that dream...or is it a nightmare? So they have stopped selling it? Big deal...moving on...

I doubt it will be missed in Europe. AFAIK these performance versions of mainstream cars sell extremely poorly in Europe. They're simply halo cars for a very small section of the market, which in Europe seems to be dominated by the VW Golf GTI / Ford Focus ST.

For years Honda was the engine technology leader. Where are they now with competitive engines? Where the leading turbo 4? Hondas with low torque are toast compared to VW's best, BMW's best, etc. Honda engineering is MIA.
