2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor will be powered exclusively by the 6.2-liter V8 engine
Ford confirmed that the 411-hp 6.2-liter V8 will exclusively power the 2011 SVT Raptor dirt devil. It can be recalled that the 6.2-liter V8 made its debut as the optional motor for 2010.

The switch came about because of the 2011 phase-out of the 5.4-liter V8 from the F-150 line. A truck version of the Mustang’s 5.0-liter will be the replacement. The 310-hp 5.4 is capable of powering the big, heavy Raptor to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in a decent 8.4 seconds

I agree. With the SVT tag it should be only compared to the best, so why not only offer the best.

I would like to see the 400hp ecoboost as an option, they are comparable in power, but the ecoboost V-6 is lighter, and that will make it faster off road! better power to weight ratio, 0=60 and better fuel economy, it just wouldn't sound as good.Although I like the 6.2.

How do we know the Ecoboost is lighter? The 6.2 Scorpion is all aluminum despite its large displacement. The V6 is carrying the turbocharger and an intercooler and all the piping and hardware for it. It could actually be heavier.

Good point 91z4me, someone has to google it, I would imagine that it would be lighter with .25% less engine block and 2 less pistons? I better check.

The engine that it should have had in the first place. The 370z made more power than the 5.4 with its microscopic 3.7 litre engine.
