Which Would You Rather Own, The Honda CR-Z or The Scion tC ?

Which Would You Rather Own, The Honda CR-Z or The Scion tC ?
Pretty soon buyers here in the States will have a few new choices when considering an affordable and efficient entry-level coupe or hatch. No, no, we aren't getting VW's Scirocco or Peugeot's RCZ anytime soon (but the Hyundai Veloster is on its way). We're talking about Honda's CR-Z hybrid that goes on sale here in the States on August 24 and Toyota's all-new 2011 Scion tC that arrives in showrooms in early October.

Both cars are priced similar and are designed to appeal to a younger (or young at heart) audience looking for an inexpensive ride with a somewhat sporty feel.

So, what can buyers expect for putting their hard-earned cash in someone else's corporate pocket?

I don't know about anyone else, and this is just my opinion but I would much rather have the Scion tC. I think that the styling of the Scion tC is much nicer than the one of the CR-Z, but thats just my opinion...

Looking at the picture above, i would rather have the Honda CR-Z. I don't want a toyota charger!!!

Neither. If I got to the point where either one of those was a choice I had to make. I'd be highly upset and just go buy a nice used car.

I would take the scion with more HP over the Honda.

Scion has more potential in every category other than tree hugger mpg. Choice Scion.

isnt mpg only 30's in the hybrid. The Scion shouldnt be far off.

I saw a cr-z two days ago being test driven. It is very attractive as far as an eco-nocar goes. Scions are bland pieces...

If I was forced to drive either one, I would probably go with the TC.

The Scion looks likes its 5-6 years old already it just looks so dated like something that came out years ago. I would go with the CRZ

I would go with the TC. Lots of performance parts available to tart it up as your budget/desire allows.

tC is a 4 seater while the CRZ is only a 2 seater - how are these markets even cross-shopping these cars??

The Scion tC is a better buy for the younger generation. It is at an affordable price point, and it is designed to be built up.

While the CR-Z probably gets better fuel economy, it comes at the cost of performance. Because it's a hybrid it is also weighed down quite a bit, losing any benefit from having the hybrid torque system.

Having a Scion tC in the past, I enjoyed it quite a bit, yet I feel like they needed to make it more sporty out of the box, rather than have to pay for half their accessory catalog to get any boom from it. This new one is using another torque friendly, faster engine, and I think it will be quite enjoyable.

tC.

My 15-yr old son was watching a music video (Ridin' Solo by Jason Derulo) and he started laughing when he saw the CR-Z featured in the video. He thought that the idea of a Honda-anything being cool was lame and assumed that it was a paid product placement because no cool singer like Derulo would really want an econo car like the CR-Z.

I asked him what car he thought that they should have used for the video and he said "an Aston Martin. That is a cool car."
