Review: Mazda CX-7-RX challenger?

For the sporty-minded, it sets the standard for so-called crossover-utility vehicles. Crossovers, sometimes called CUVs, are SUVs built atop car hardware so they handle more like cars than like trucks and in many cases use less fuel than truck-based SUVs do.

For folks wanting a sedan, more or less, with an SUV body, the CX-7's edgy sportiness will be over the top. Go look at a Toyota RAV4, or the like.

From the windshield forward CX-7's underpinnings ape the Mazda6 and its high-performance sibling, MazdaSpeed6. Rearward, the CX-7 is a blend of the Mazda3 sedan and Mazda5 mini-minivan.

A lot less dough. I know, I know it does not compete with directly with the RX, but at least this Mazda has some style compared to other offerings in this class.

Looks and handles better.

However, after the introduction of the Mazda 6, I was always of the opinion that Mazda was taking styling tips from Alfa Romeo.

And Jeeka, apart from clear tail-lights, no one has stolen styling cues off Toyota. No one.

If it is a competitor to the RX then that means it will also compete against the FX 35,BMW X5 3.0,BMW X3,VW Toureg V6,CAYENNE V6,ML350...etc

I don't think so,it may be a crossover, but will compete against new or upcoming GM,FORD,Mitsubishi,French....etc crossovers most probably and not the mighty Japaneese and European luxury brands because Mazda still doesn't have it's own luxury brand like Toyota or Nissan or Honda or VW....etc
