Styling FAIL? Infiniti QX56 Gambles And Trades Looks For Amenities
The good, the bad and the ugly. It's cliche, it's trite — and it's exactly how to describe Infiniti's 2011 QX56.
The "good" includes this full-size luxury SUV's interior, its drivetrain and its (relative) maneuverability. The "bad" describes its gas mileage, its aversion to getting dirty and some practical elements of the vehicle's design. And the "ugly' describes ... well, look at it.
In short, the QX looks weird. Which is unfortunate because if you're in the market for this type of vehicle, and you can get past the styling, it has a lot to offer.

I checked out the new QX56 inside & out a couple of weeks ago and it looks really good in person.
It doesn't have conservative styling if that's what you like.

It look a whole lot better in person. As a matter of fact, it looks really good in person.

Thanks for the information, because I kinda had that feeling by looking at it, but I wasn't sure of it. I never saw this particular vehicle in person before. I would say this though that the Nissan version is nicer.

Once again, another lame flame article. If you would look at the sales numbers and where it ranks with its competitors, you would see that it is doing quite well. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it is a fail. It just means you are not the person they are targeting with the vehicle. LAME ARTICLE!

I actually like the look EXCEPT...those side vents, why? They ruin the rest of the truck for me because I can't stop staring at them, they just don't belong.

The QX looks good to me except the side vents its not odd and ungainly looking like the last one it has a sleek modern yet not overstyled look and its interior looks nice. Not sure what the big deal is, if I was interested in this type of vehicle and im not but if I were I would certainly put it high on the short list I would consider

I agree. I think this car looks good except for those side vents. If I bought one, the first thing I'd do is take it to a body shop and have those things removed. I honestly think those vents alone are what's bringing out all the controversy about the car.

I'd like to see this article next on BMWspies:

But we know we'd never see that one, right?

Well, the range rover has side vents, the caddy has side vents and qx has side vents. I don't like any of the side vents makes the vehicles look trailer park to me.

I can see why some dislike the side vents, but they are actually functional (drivers side). In addition, i think they help break up the vast amount of sheet-metal.
Overall, I think the QX is imposing and mean in person. The stance of the vehicles is very aggressive and i REALLLY like the styling. The SUV looks regal

If a car doesn't look good in pictures, then it doesn't look good in person. It may look better in person than in pictures, but still far from good looking.
I thought that the Infinti M looked nice in person but I was wrong. I saw it again (different angle) and it was horrible.

You are completely incorrect. That upset from Cadillac (the XTS concept) looks horrid to me in pictures but it looks just the opposite in person. This happens more often than not.
