Rear lights are very Fugly- maybe in person they will look better.
Who knows?

As for the interior- meh.
The original CLS had a curvier, more unique interior IMO. Almost Bentley/Jaguarish in design. The new interior is pretty straight forward and hence, boring.

I will be very curious to see how the AMG CLS 55 (oh excuse me, it's supposed to be 6.3.........but wait the engine is still 5.5)will look.

The rear looks like puke. Other than that it looks amazing, inside and outside.

I take back everything I said about the front of this car. It looks GOOD. Loving the exterior and interior. The cabin has a much sportier touch than the last generation, but at the same time it also looks very elegant.

I like it, The rear taillights make me think of the alien's eyes in the movie independence day.

The simplicity of the steering wheel makes me think of a Mercedes from the late sixties which I think is cool.

I may be in the minority here so I'm ready for copious amounts of deboosting. I think the exterior design is overwrought and somewhat garish.

I agree with justacar - especially in AMG guise

Too much "flaming" along the side - I'd like it a bit cleaner, but I do love the front. The rear quarter could be less chunky. Overall, a successful design still. I like it better than last generation.

front- too busy with all the LED's (like the facelift Q7)

side- looks like an S-class and definately a victim of pedestrian safetly standards, that snout is huge!

rear- think it's already been said...

not feeling it...

Droops to the rear too much. The last "leaked" pics showed the side profile in 2 different pics split in half. So I couldn't see the whole profile. I'm as much a fan now. Guess I'll have to see it in person to make a final judgement. But I don't think I'll like it in person.

Mercedes looks dumb for copying BMW's column shifter now that BMW has long since abandoned it...the price you pay for following instead of leading

Although nice, you would expect the interior to be as dramatic as the exterior. And why is that start button so big? Anyways, overall I guess its an decent evolution of the first generation CLS. The design is dramatic but it doesnt have that "holy sh*t!" thing about it like the first one did. I guess its because this whole "four door coupe" thing is played out now. *shrugs shoulders* Idk, just my 2cents. I wouldnt mind one though...

...Oh, and those mirrors have got to go. I dont dislike them because they are mounted on the door/body and not near the base of the A pillar. I dislike them because they: A) Arent sculpted in the fashion of the rest of the car and B) Too d*mn big. Again, just my 2cents...

Okay, Ive been staring at this car for a while now but it just doesnt "do it". Its a very nice vehicle but the "magic" is gone. Mercedes should retire the CLS after this second generation and let them be collectors items. I have a hard time imagining the next generation CLS getting any more dramatic than this one (which is almost over done). Just my opinion...

The stalk shifter totally induces flaccidity, not to mention the previous gen. looks better.

It is kinda a scarcely (and I use that term loosely) departure from out going model, but it should be like that, having progression. I think over all its a nice car and probably we will have to see in person to get a better since of i, because the fact of the matter is that when we visually see the car on a photo, we are looking at all the lines in one view. So, in real life we want see the car like this when are up close to it and it is on the ground.

What would you guys rate Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Lexus on (out of 10) for;

- Style
- Sophistication
- Sporty
- Technological/Progressive

Thinking about the whole brand and not particular segments. And thinking about what the attribute means to you.
