DWT: The REAL Killer App. Why Isn't Anyone MADD Enough To Do Something About It?
It is deadly. It is irresponsible. And we have all done it. Before you commute home think about this: Why isn’t there a better solution to texting while driving?
Last week in Los Angeles, celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan drove his car over a cliff while sending a text to Twitter about his his border collie. (Quite possibly this tweet.)
Dr. Ryan’s death is a shame—mitigated only by the fact that he didn’t hurt anyone else. (His dog Jill survived the accident, even.) But it’s impossible not to feel a bit of schadenfreude at his self-inflicted death while doing something so trivial. “Darwin Award!” we chuckle. But we’ve all done it at times—or something equally as distracting while driving.

People should stop worrying about better ways of texting while driving, and focus on the actual act of driving... Period

Yea....pull over. Every construction site I've been on that actually permitted cellphones, required the drivers pull over before answering the phone and talking. And it makes perfect sense. Why people seem to think they have to text while they drive is beyond me.
I rode with a woman one time that swore up and down that she could text while driving as if she wasn't texting at all. Meanwhile her 3 babies are in the back staring off into oblivion and I'm trying not to rip the "Oh-sh*t" handle off the frame and beat her with it.

I neglected to mention that she was actually driving, texting and bragging about the driving/texting skills while we were in transit. That was the a last time I rode with her.

You know I never did understood my peers and I guess now the older retards. Seriously, you have to be a freaking retard to not know texting while driving is a bad ideal. The thing is everybody wants to fulfill this role of looking cool and hip which causes them to loose themselves to drugs, alcohol, and now texting! I got on my older sister's case for texting something irrelevant while driving. Its like having a smaller typewriter in front of you while driving.

We can't even get the FCC is fairly regulate traffic on the internet, do you really think that any congressman is going to risk alienating the telecom industry? Unfortunately, nothing will happen until an epic trajedy occurs (and this one just ain't epic enough).

There IS a KILLER app. I recently invested in it! Visit www.smsreplier.com and www.drivereply.net to download apps that help to prevent texting while driving. We actually built-in the ability for some phones to detect when a car is moving, which will cause your phone to AUTOMATICALLY reply to calls or texts with a text message to let other people know you're driving and you can't text. I hope this helps everyone here and I hope it saves some lives...
