Nissan shows the Murano Convertible to dealers, they consider it ‘kind of unusual’
If yesterday the Nissan Murano Convertible was just a rumor, today it became official as the Japanese manufacturer already showed the car to dealers in a private meeting in Las Vegas this month.

As expected, the new car will be offered as a two-door with a droptop and will be introduced on the market next year. The dealers already commented that the car is kind of unusual, and “looks better with the top down than up”.

I think it will look VERY UGLY. Just look at the Infiniti G37 and Lexus IS droptops. Big bucks, big asses and no trunk! Same for the Caddy CTS coupe. (Tho I would take one with the 556 hp engine in it if someone offered!) This thing may end up looking like a PT Cruiser (God help us!) if they chop off the Murano's top. And IMO it's one of the best crossovers out there! You know the adage: IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T TRY TO FIX IT!

I actually really like the Murano. My ex has one and I thought it was a great wifes car. Good power, good looks (in black), good features if a bit over priced. But I think Nissan must be on something if they think they are gonna sell enough convertibles at high prices in this economy to make a profit. This thing better be drop dead gorgeous if they want to sell any of them.

The current looks odd and ackward how do you think a 2 door rag top version of a tall odd ackward looking vehicle is going to look anywhere near drop dead gorgeous. This car is really waste they should have either done a wrangler esque version of the Xterra if they have to have a nissan suv ragtop, or apply this nonsensical concept to Infinitis FX so that way they could at least charge more for it.

Did they think that a Mid-sized four door SUV transformed into a 2 door convertible would look good? I'd like to see how this is going to turn out. My guesses are like how the PT Cruiser convertible turned out....

The PT Cruiser was not a crossover and didn't even bear any resemblance to one. It was just a hatchback compact car. Convertivle SUVs have been around from day one. The original military Jeep and its civilian variant the Wrangler, the last Land Rover 90, Suzuki/GEO/Chevrolet triplet mini SUVs, Ford Bronco, International Scout, so on, so forth...

So we can't get a photoshop of what it would look like. Just a picture of your neighbors Murano in the driveway. Nice spying... The first generation Murano was a great looking car. The new one just looks overdone and overrated.
