Video: Ford Mustang GT VS BMW M3 Coupè
What we have here. US vs Europe! We have the BMW M3, one of the best sports car that Germany made, and the new Ford Mustang Gt, a car that has allot of potential !

The fourth generation BMW M3 was announced on the 2007 Geneva Auto Show. Just as the previous M3 generations all introduced a completely new engine, the fourth generation M3 did the same: the BMW S65 engine was introduced.

This S65B40 is a naturally aspirated, high revving 4-litre V8 (based on the S85B50 5-litre V10 that powers the E60/E61 M5 and the E63/E64 M6 to date), delivering 414 bhp (309 kW; 420 PS) at 8,300 rpm, with peak torque at 400 N·m (300 lb·ft) at 3,900 rpm, which represents a power increase of 22% over the E46 M3.

I think Ford has done a amazing job with the Mustang. Just incredible that they were able to get that close to the M3 for almost half the price.

So let's get trendy:
Is the M3 worth twice the money of Mustang?

@dlin

lets not get hasty here lets see if ford can continue this trend but if u want a better handling car the M# will be your choice. american companies are only worried about how much HP they can get out an 8 cylinder engine and thats their focus the germans work on everything else

I disagree in this particular case. The M3 has more hp, but less torque. You are talking about .07 seconds at the finish, not to mention the fact that Randy Pobst said the Mustang was more fun, rotated better, and had the edge in braking. Plus, BMW supplied a M3 with the competition pack, if it was the standard M3 it probably would have lost.

The M3 is absolutely worth twice the money of the Mustang...

and to be clear, the M3 is not twice as expensive...

Still you have to hand it to Ford. How they can make a car with "donky cart" rear suspension handle so close to a BMW M3 is utterly amazing!I would be curious to see how the Boss 302 does against the M3. I would suspect the slight lack of shock control at high speeds would be easily addressed. The M3 is worth more because it has a much higher interior finish,more sophisticated suspension system,better refinement etc. I'm not sure if it's worth 26 grand over the Mustang,however.

There is plenty of things to justify the price of the M3 over a Mustang its amazing though watching the video how far Ford has come with the Mustang it not only delivered a car that can run with a European icon but also developed a relatively fuel efficient V8 sports car with a high quality interior. For those that dont need the luxury, prestige, accuracy or technology offered by the BMW though the Ford in my opinion is the better car if everyday performance is most important its hard to argue with those figures and it really is a complete package for those wanting a GREAT sports car.

Don't forget you can also now opt for a supercharger kit from Ford Racing to be factory bolted onto your new Mustang for 623hp.

Saying that the Mustang is a "great car, for the money" is like saying that a girl is "kinda cute".

Mostly dhildren look at things in black and white while we expect adults to be more analytical. Arguing the dollar value of both cars just seems so pointless to me when the only criteria is a track score..."Is it worth twice the price?"...there is so much more to both these cars that work into the cost of the vehicle. If your only yardstick is performance and price, then the Mustang is the better V-A-L-U-E...but when you factor in other things that people look at, fit and finish, Service, Options, Technology (Safety and Entertainment), Resale value, Maintenance, etc., you make a better comparison. Don't get me wrong...I really like the Mustang and what FORD has done...but I also like to see sensible debate, of which you don't see too much of on this site. It's great to see cars go head to head..but why spoil the fun and argue about purchase price. Obviously, one or the other is not everyone's cup of tea.

Good video, it's worth watching. Pat on the back for Mustang. Needs refinement.

Based on the dollar cost the Mustang has plenty of refinement. But this is what separates the M3 from the Mustang and why you pay 26 grand more.You are paying for this extra refinement and quality. However for the cost of the Mustang you are getting a great car.
