New showdown? Audi R8 vs. Porsche 911

The company is benchmarking the R8, which will have quattro four-wheel drive as standard, against Porsche's 911 Carrera 4S, but says it will have a slightly higher price tag.

Michelle Davis, product manager for the R8, said exact pricing had yet to be finalised, but promised it would be better equipped than rivals.

Satellite-navigation, full leather interior and other executive car treats are all likely to be standard.

At first, just one R8 model will be offered, powered by the 500bhp 5.0-litre V10 first seen in the Gallardo.

Will also be much faster than the Porche. Too bad Audi could not keep the fancy but expensive LED headlights on the actual R8 for sale. Hmmmm...wonder how it will do compared with the copy from Lexus.

I think that many people have said that the headlight don't look all that great in the concept. I have as well. But Audi has put LED daytime driving lights on the new S6.

I think more of R8 is a competitor to the new Gallardo,F430,DB9,911 Turbo/GT2,LF-A....etc

Well eager to see the production version of The gorgious R8.

I believe it will do very well if they r saying that it's price will be nearar to that of 911.

With 500BHP,and a price tag of 100K-120K.IT's a proven winner.
