The TRUTH About The Ford Fiesta Launch?

The TRUTH About The Ford Fiesta Launch?
Without question probably one of the more anticipated vehicles of the year was the 2011 Ford Fiesta.

And when I drove it in San Francisco, I walked away relatively impressed.

But as The Truth About Cars points out, marketing and a great product "doesn't mean squat," if you cannot get the car into consumer's hands. Well said, Mr. Niedermeyer.

Additionally, we have to wonder how well the Fiesta is doing. For such a "cheap" car is the car doing as well as thought? Sources close to the Spies suggest otherwise but we cannot seem to make out if the car is/isn't doing well because of the delays.

What we can tell you, however, is that we'll be keeping a close eye on the matter and the success/failure of Ford's Spanish friend.

While AdAge raves over Ford’s “product placement plus” marketing scheme for the Fiesta, actual customers for the Mexican-built subcompact are starting to get testy. The Fiesta’s Facebook page is home to several customer complaints about slow delivery of Fiesta, and Ford has already sent out $50 Mastercard gift cards to waiting customers. But in the letter accompanying the gift cards, Ford blamed hurricanes for Fiesta delays… and it turns out there’s more to the story than that. The Freep reports that 6,000 Fiestas were delayed last week due what Ford’s Mark Fields calls “a part-quality issue....

13 000 000 sold Fiestas since 1976 up to now - why this car is good enough for the whole world except the USA?

Have you seen the Lease/Finance rates on this vehicle?! 6.9% (in my region) on both finance and lease is ridiculous! A car built for the young demographic w/o the relative demographic rates is absurd. That's why it's not doing well, young people can't afford those ridiculous interest rates.

No one is going to twist your arm and MAKE you go with Ford Credit. Since when is the finance rate "set" on a lease/finance of a vehicle?

Listen, I'm not bashing ford. In respect to this article, I'm just alluding to a plausible explanation as to why the Fiesta might not be selling as projected. I suggest you or any other person on this site go to fordvehicles.com or ford.ca and price one for yourself, then you'll know what I'm talking about.

My wife and I went to our local Ford dealer (Bob Wondries, Alhambra, CA) in July to drive a Fiesta in anticipation of purchasing one that same day if she liked it (ready to pay cash).

We took one look at the $1,500 dealer markup on the sticker and walked out. Never looked back. Bought a different car a month later.

In my case, Ford lost the Fiesta sale (and likely any change to ever sell me a car in the future) due to dealer greed.

I hear Ford screwed with the American version--read: soft suspension. I'm thinkin' "Mazda '2'.
