VIDEO: An IDIOT And A Corvette ZR1, Do YOU Trust Your Dealership?

VIDEO: An IDIOT And A Corvette ZR1, Do YOU Trust Your Dealership?
So, when you buy your car and you notice the odometer has some mileage on it, do you get worried?

If so, you probably do not want to continue watching or reading this post.

According to a YouTube video, a security guard at an auction facility decided to have a little bit of reckless fun with a $110,000 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Now there is definitely not a problem for some fun in a proper environment with your own property, this is just wrong on so many levels.

Ultimately, we have to wonder: do you trust your dealership and its employees after seeing what can happen at an auction house?

This is the video of a Manheim Auto Auction Dallas security guard abusing a nearly new, and not his, ZR1 that ended up at Woodhouse Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep...

He seems to have better control over that car than Juan Pablo Montoya did on the track the other day. But to be honest, I am no more concerned about this than I am when I take my car for annual road fitness certification. The examiners here in Jamaica routinely drive people's cars this very way. No joke.

Let's see....
1. Fired immediatly
2. Submit for coverage to damages from bonding agency, thereby making sure he is never able to be bonded again.
3. Post his real name on the video, that way the instant any future employer goes to hire him, and does a simple google search will find out what kind of douchebag they were considering hiring.

I'm sure he was fired, and deservedly so. As for what he did, frankly my reaction was "meh". It's a used ZR-1, I think it's safe to assume it has seen a burnout or two before, and anyone buying a used ZR-1 is certainly going into that with the knowledge that their used supercar has probably seen some hooliganism.

And knowing that it's used, the car has probably been test-driven "around the block" a couple dozen times before you even found it.

So what, what's the big deal?? I live near a Toy & Honda dealer, I see those guys power sliding when they bring them from the lot to the dealer to be delivered. The ZR1 should be driven that way, it'll probably be babied...opus guy is a hater. Almost every single new car thats delivered in the USA and has more than 1 mile on it has been through hard acceleration and cornering right before delivery.

Not true at all...... As an ex-salesman 1. driving a car in that manner will get you fired 2. In Michigan it can get you jail time.

Of course you don't have to worry about your Toyota or Honda dealership doing the same thing to one of their cars because neither make a car that's capable of doing this...

Note to Enforcement....Remember your own words after you work hard to save $100K to buy the car of your dreams and a young vallet punk lays rubber after you give him the keys. You will be singing a different tune...count on it.

Before watching the video you guys made it seem like he wrapped it around a pole or something. Admittedly he shouldn't be doing this in dealer cars, but every one of you if given the opportunity to drive a new zr1 would have to hit it a few times. The only difference is that you'd probably do it at a stop light and hit a van full of nuns with babies and puppies in it. Salesman routinely do this especially in supercars. I wouldn't have taped it...but thats me.

" do you trust your dealership and its employees after seeing what can happen at an auction house?"

What the hell does this have to do with dealerships and employees? This was done at an auto auction NOT a dealership.

@theoptimisticpessimist

No kidding.

But, let's not pretend this type of behavior doesn't happen at dealers.

Or are you that naive?

I not naïve and I work at a dealership and I can tell you this kind a behavior would result in disciplinary action. Dose this happen at dealer ships perhaps some, but such action could have been take by the previous owner or automotive journalist. It’s a high performance car.

My point is that as automotive journalist you should provide a semblance of accuracy, not assumption. You have provided not a story, video, or a scintilla of evidence that this happens at dealerships. You do however offer a headline that that shouts attention and offer no facts to back it up. This is not journalism it yellow journalism, or are you naïve to that difference.

Didn't anyone here ever see Ferris Buler's Day Off? This has been going on at dealers, auction houses, valet parking, etc for.... well, forever.

Give anyone the keys to your hot ride and turn your back - no one to blame but yourself. Might as well hand him your hot naked wife. Human nature is human nature; the guy is gonna hit it and hit it hard.

This just shows the lack of maturity and professionalism you'd expect from a dealership, it's employees, auctions, or even a valet.

PUGPROUD: You hit it on the head. I'm just surprised to hear so many people OK with this idiot's actions.

I can tell there are many auto dealer employees on this site who have done this.. lol

all of u r naive & head in the sand. This happens at every single dealer where the car has to be driven more than a couple NYC blocks or more than a mile to be delivered…like I said I live near a Honda & Toy dealer & they r literally next to each other and the 18yr olds they hired to bring the cars from wherever the lot is…basically I see on a regular basis Accord V6 & Camry V6 with window stickers on racing light to light & tires screeching & personally looks pretty cool…they used to do similar things with my Subaru & CX7 I had when I took it for servicing…caught them but didn't say anything…there's something called a rev limiter…so who cares
