Mazda Unveils New Design Language With Shinari Sports Coupe Concept

Mazda unveiled the Shinari sports coupe Monday, a four-door concept car that indicates the future design direction for the Japanese brand.

The coupe shows the future face of Mazda's family of vehicles -- an aluminum signature wing -- as well as the overall styling trend for future production models.

That's probably what they wanted to hear (looks like the Infiniti Essence). Now, they're going to redesign the Maz6 and (if they have the balls) make a larger sedan for the mature set.

Better looking than their other styling cocepts. In the end it doesn't matter that much as the production cars only have a little of the concept's "styling DNA" in reality.

I do like that the grill is understated relative to the rest of their current designs, but I would have to agree with it looking a lot like the Essence. I would be surprised if Mazda brings anything production worthy that matches the look of this concept.

Beautifully proportioned, thoughtfully detailed design. Well done Mazda. Pay no attention to the haters.
Bring an undiluted model to market and you have a gamechanger. Water it down for production and remain a second or third option.

Yeah this car has "inspired by Infiniti's Essence concept" all over it. That being said, it is a beautiful looking car with a monsterous bumper that needs a little more work! For some reason, when I look at the grill Alfa comes to mind.

Two things scare me about this car:

- With all that hood space, it'll still end-up being FWD or FWD biased AWD
- What Ford platform will Mazda be forced to use if this comes to market

They won't be forced to use a shared platform, as Mazda is no longer controlled by Ford.
