Your Tax Dollars At Work? NHTSA Open Investigation Of Stalling TDI Jetta's After Only SEVEN Complaints
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into whether diesel Volkswagen Jetta vehicles should be recalled because of complaints about engine stalling.

The agency is looking into 37,889 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI models after getting seven complaints on that model and year "alleging that while driving and without warning the engine limped and then stalled almost immediately."

VW spokesman Kerry Christopher said the company is reviewing the complaints.

7 out of 38,000 seems more statistically significant than the small numbers out of millions for Toyota's recent recalls? Why should VW be given a pass? Welcome to the new age of recalls.

Seems like Big Brother is telling us for the better part the decade were are ALL driving dangerous vehicles. At the current rate the public is becoming numb to the amount of recalls. What used to be a cause for alarm is turning into background chatter.

Well ALL is exagerating greatly as I havent seen ALL brands under investigation BUT agree with it or not it is forcing automakers to try catch these recalls prior to it being forced on them. 7 stalled cars or not I wouldnt want to be the person being told that no one can do anything about it simply because its out of warranty and their is no recall on it and your stuck iwth a lemon/purchased a lemon that your having to pay to get fixed....oh well....build better cars.

Autoblog has this story also. Apparently 7 is not even close to the number of affected vehicles. VW forums are lit up with this problem. And it may not just be VWs. Ah, diesels :)
