Has Mazda's New Design Direction Changed Your Opinion About

Mazda's new design direction is embodied in the new Shinari concept car. Modeled to announce to the world the new styling language of future Mazda road cars, the Shinari ushers in a new look to replace the somewhat tortured Nagare mantra that has fizzled into a damp squib on the sides of the latest Mazda 5 midi-MPV.

The Shinari won't be shown at the 2010 Paris motor show (apparently it's being held back for a 2011 Geneva debut), yet this is a landmark concept for Mazda design, under the new leadership of chief design Ikuo Maeda.

Nice way to rip off the Infiniti Esscense, Mazda. Not a fan of car companies that steal other companies ideas!

but it does make you wonder why Infiniti didnt capitalize on the essence styling more as a 4 door coupe version of the essence would have been a perfect flagship but instead it was used in the somewhat oddly proportioned new M. By any case this new Mazda gorgeous shame it will only be used as a styling exercise for future Mazdas

Like I said on another board, nissan could only dream of making something this goodlooking. This=awesome; essence=retarded, like all nissans.

This design is all Mazda. It looks like a futuristic RX8, which means it has Mazda cues, not reptilian ones, like those found on the nissan.

Yes thats the mistake these Japanese companies are making. Make the concept more of the production possibility.

Its very attractive; and yes it does seem to take cues from Fisker and Essence. Nevertheless, it does a great job in pulling the design off.

Not until they actually build it...
