FACT or FICTION: Is This Jeep Design Study Indicating The Brand's Future?

FACT or FICTION: Is This Jeep Design Study Indicating The Brand's Future?
An interesting little video series that Jeep has been featuring on its YouTube page is a "Total Access" series with its intern -- Georgetown football player, Mose Hogan.

Go Hoyas!

Anyway, a couple of automotive publications published the video today saying that Jeep "accidentally" revealed a Fiat-based Jeep concept. While we aren't touching that with a 10-foot pole, we will say that the design study, whether or not it has been thrown out, is definitely intriguing.

Chrysler released a statement shortly following the speculation saying:

"While we certainly appreciate the interest, the clay model and sketches in the YouTube video represent past design studies, not the future of Jeep design. This and similar videos are targeted toward college students and the youth market in general, to build excitement about the Jeep brand, and to provide a glimpse into some of the processes we go through to create iconic Jeep vehicles."

With that said, we want to know:

Does the sketch/clay model indicate that Jeep COULD be working on an upcoming crossover based on a Fiat chassis?

I am OK with something along these lines. Considering Daimler failed miserably when it tried to introduce the CompASS. The Patriot is OK as it is pretty much the newer version of the Cherokee. The Liberty got over proportioned to it's cousin. So I would think if they can just add the option of a V6 into the Patriot with a more bumped up 4WD system then you would see the new age Cherokee.

Just as long as it's not another worthless crossover.
