McLaren planning to introduce one new model per year for the next five years
In order to achieve a total production of 4,500 units, McLaren is set to introduce one model per year for the next five years. These words came from McLaren North American chief Tony Joseph who also added that the British manufacturer already built a prototype of an upcoming vehicle. Currently, McLaren plans to sell 1,000 units of the MP4-12C in its first year of production, but due to the demand for this car it appears that this number will be easily achieved. For those who don’t know, the McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8-liter twin

I assume they mean the same car with different letters on the back ala Pagani Zonda.

I agree with pi above, although it would be really quite amazing if they came out with 5 completely new models.

They'll probably introduce a hybrid or convertible model next, or both, followed by a mid-sized performance sedan or suv. I wouldn't be surprised if they are also working on a super stylish, small city car project. If Audi's E-tron concept becomes a reality and sells well, except an all electric version as well.

in an earlier press release Mclaren declared that they would stay true to their roots and that a 4 door car was out of the picture, I guess the same would apply to a suv or small city car.

@ Joe_Limon

I believe you, but money is money and a top running F1 team, even with budget caps is still damn expensive. I'll concede on the suv, but if the market is there, I wouldn't count out MaC putting out a performance sedan/saloon with supercar handling. Once you have a sedan, you have the basis for a SUV.

I do see MaClaren going after the 911 for a barely sub $100,000 coupe. I like the city car idea because define that segment. I was thinking of a small electric car with some performance and range. This small electric car could be the basis to improve their electric and hybrid tech or a way for potential upcoming performance electric drivetrain parts to be used on another platform, within the company, to bring down component costs.
