Lincoln Aims Its MKX Gun Directly At The Lexus RX, Will It Fire A Deadly Shot?

Lincoln Aims Its MKX Gun Directly At The Lexus RX, Will It Fire A Deadly Shot?
Live from Georgetown is Agent001. After having the chance to drive one of Lincoln's family, the MKZ Hybrid, he was given the chance to pilot another new sibling; the MKX.

Although we still cannot provide any driving impressions because of a strict embargo, we are able to show you as many photographs of the car as we want.

Taking a look at the 2011 Lincoln MKX, you have to admit that for a luxury crossover, it is likely going to put its crosshairs on the Lexus RX. Make sure to take a look at the new, updated interior and its interface. What do you say, Spies?

Does the Lexus RX have something to worry about?

looks very nice and put together. it may take a few sales away from Lexus, but is it a deadly shot...N-O!!!

the dash area, from door to door, looks VERY similar to my G37's layout

not crazy about the lexus exterior, but its still better than this, and with better resale value, and it being the STANDARD in that class, this SHITBOX will NOT make a dent in lexus rx sales..
who could HONESTLY go home after purchasing the Lincoln and say " i made the right choice, this is better than the Lexus" this is just settling for a nice car, but definitely not better.

The RX exterior is still a bit of a non-descript jellybean. Though the newest MKX has a bit more upscale flare, its basic exterior shape is still very similar to the Ford Edge. The interior has probably the most compelling set of features and designs to win many consumers over though.

I saw the Lincoln at the dealership near my house the other day. I think the grill looks better on it than it does on the MK...umm..err...J...T...Q or whatever they call the Lincoln Flex. The interior was also pretty nice too. I even like the techno features. But that being said Lincoln doesn't carry Lexus cachet and it will by no means send a death blow the the hideous RX.

This thing will add sales to Lexus, when people see it coming they will run to the nearest Lexus dealership and pick up an RX.

Exterior looks just awful. Interior is just ok. The seats look cheesy.

It sure has enough chrome, brushed-aluminum, simulated chrome finished-plastic bright trim to give it that rich tacky look.

What is that big ugly rod on the back gate, is that to hold the gate up???

I've seen a better dash in the Chevrolet Cruze. Even the interior of the Suzuki Kizashi is embarrassing the Lincoln MKX.It looks like they have all the surfaces right, just the cuts and forming are bland and unexpressive for the intended market segment. They did a better job on Taurus.

What a stupid-looking vehicle.

Front end is very ugly and bland. Looks like oversized BMW kidney grille and too much chrome.

It looks nice and shiny and owners will love it and keep it very clean and take care of it but many yrs down the line the RX will look more normal compared to this...now they said they can't say anything about the driving impression...but when i went to FL this past summer, budget gave me premium upgrade of 2010 Lincoln MKZ, it had the revised 3.5 V6 and I can tell u it cannot compare to the smoothness, power delivery & sound of the Toyota 2GR 3.5...

Ford Edge with a goofy grill.

The issue that I'm having and I'm sure that a lot of you guys/girls are having is that it just look like a Ford edge. That being said it has already lost in my book. The interior is nice though. If it steals from the Lexus market it will be from the fact that the buyers are not well inform on what is true luxury.

It sure does have a chance--Lexus should be very worried. Unless we're talking about styling and material quality and craftsmanship, in which case Lexus has nothing to worry about.

Anyone who has ever sat in one of these will know what I mean. Lincoln really needs to step up its game. I can appreciate the styling direction and all of that, and that's subjective, but luxury buyers KNOW quality, and they won't settle for plastick-y parts that don't look or fit right, and fake finishes.

The crazy part is that Ford/Lincoln are actually building some great products these days...I don't know why they insist on cheap, cheesy interiors.
